3D Printed Fang Hot End Mod

Hello Everyone,

Last night I printed this hot end mod for the Ender 3 V2:

1 pc no support fang for Ender 3 V2 dual 40mm fan, by The_Benz_Masteris licensed under the Creative Commons - Attribution - Non-Commercial - No Derivatives license.

I didn't like the stock hot end fixture because air flow is not great and it's a little unpleasant to work with in many ways.

You might also notice I had white slot covers before and now I have red to match the new part. Let's have a look at some photos.

This is the hot end mod while it was printing. Notice the old fixture, this is what we replaced :)

I found this hot end mod on Thingiverse and felt it was pretty cool looking, with a design that was not overengineered and is pleasant to look at.

I was amazed that no supports were needed for this model, and everything printed very nicely with a result in what was a relatively perfect print.

I printed at 0.16 mm layer height with GIZMODORKS red filament.

I decided I wanted to print out the red slot covers and (somewhat) finished that process before this post.

I ran out of filament, and made a mistake with some of the sizes, which I will correct when I get more filament, but this will do for now.

After installing the red slot covers:

Now this Ender 3 V2 is starting to look really cool! :D

Let's talk about a few things.

The fans are obviously hot glued on, as well as the fan covers (which were a separate print, here is the attribution thingiverse link) for this print.

Although the hot glue is mildly off putting, it works well enough for its purpose and was simply a result of not having the appropriate screws right now and the printed screws weren't working out. I will probably fix that in the future, but it's definitely not a priority and will work just fine for now.

The red slot covers are a work in progress. I will need to print more to complete the machine when I get some more red filament, probably the GIZMODORKS again because it's kind of nice filament that prints really strong and has vivid color.

The fixture is held in place by this threaded screw that goes right into the x axis gantry, and the other side just clasps over with the print. It fits snugly and I think I did a pretty good job with the hot glue where it was needed :D

One might wonder the purpose of this upgrade.

There are a couple as I see it.

This style hot end fixture offers better air flow and cooling, so it is a practical print.
It is aesthetically pleasing to the eye as well, which means bragging rights for the printer operator :)

Having a successful printed upgrade like this hot end mod working properly while also being nice to look at helps me feel like a 3D printing pro, and motivates me to keep on practicing and learning.

Does the Hive community like this 3D printed hot end mod? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Thank you for stopping by, have a great day! ~~@print3dpro

That is amazing.👍 You're more daring than I am. I am still under warrantee so I am not tinkering much with my 3D printer (yet). Looks like some great filament.😍 I am jealous.

Thanks man!
It was a bit daring for sure, and I was shocked my printer produced such a nice print.
I think the engineering is just really good with this fixture. Not a single support was needed and that is pretty impressive in my opinion.

Looks like some great filament.

GIZMODORKS (site link) is definitely pretty good stuff! This came in a 4 pack of basic colors. Amazon link to the product.

I just saw what happened yesterday: https://ecency.com/hive-123993/@print3dpro/3d-printed-light-rack-solution

I am sorry. There's a whole story but the gist is while discussing combining my community with their community one of the things I proposed to do was chose one of the moderators for the proposed single community. You were the moderator I had in mind.

After things went south and the deal went nowhere I went ahead with what I wanted to do and made you a moderator.

I guess @schlees thought I "stole" the idea of adding moderators to my community since that was part of the proposal he brought to me. To be honest I don't know what he was thinking based on the way he was replying to you like that.

What happened to you I never intended to happen and I am deeply sorry that happened to you. I still want you to be the moderator of my community but if they give you more grief in the future for being the moderator of my community and you want to resign I'll understand.

I appreciate you extending the kind words and apology. I'm not upset with anyone here, and I feel I overreacted a bit at the time.

I find it to be unfortunate that you guys are having disagreements and really hope there is some resolve to be had regarding the situation.

I think a function like being able to post in various communities with one post would alleviate problems like this, because I have no objection to posting in both of these communities, and just think it would be nice if a post could be seen in more than one community, like a maximum of 3-5 communities maybe. Just a thought but I think currently that is not possible.

@schlees mentioned something about cross posting but I don't fully comprehend the cross posting stuff. Is that a way to share posts in different communities?

Despite the disagreement you guys are having, I'm happy to support both communities side by side how ever I can, and would by happy to maintain a moderator position in your community @holovision.

For now I would be happy to alternate my posts between the two communities if this sounds alright with you guys, as a way to support both and take a neutral stance on this. I'm trying to step up my posting rate anyway and this will help with that in a sense.

Overall I just hope you guys can work things out.

Thanks. That's all I needed to say about that at this time. Feel free to alternate post in whatever ratio you want between the communities.

I haven't done a cross post in awhile. This is my understanding but I don't guarantee my understand is 100% accurate:

After making a post to a community you can go back to the post and in the options beyond edit and delete there is cross post. You can cross post to communities you are subscribed to.

I am 95% sure cross posts don't get rewards for upvotes and I am somewhat sure the replies for each post go to both posts.

I kind of understand the logic. You can tag tribes so the post shows up in multiple tribes but you can't tag two or more #hive-.... because some communities aren't moderated well or are abandoned and it would likely become a spam post issue. Tribes are generally moderated well except I think probably infowars and blogtoken being a few of the exceptions.

Thank you for taking the time to clarify this to the best of your understanding. It gives a bit more perspective for me too now.
I have noticed some posts I come across say cross posted and I can't vote, so with those posts I simply go to their blog and find the votable post, which I think is usually underneath the cross posted post as the original post.

I guess the mechanism is a little clunky but sure it makes sense, ultimate goal seeming to be more visibility, which must work or I wouldn't stumble upon so many cross posted articles.

I appreciate the explanation, I'll mess around with it.

Might have changed a little since I last cross posted.

From now on @schlees Wubba Lubba Dub-Dub is what you'll get as a reply because I am done wasting my time and energy and I now wish at the beginning I had just said no to your proposal.

I promised @print3dpro I'd do my best to keep @print3dpro out of this. If you still have a problem it's with me and not @print3dpro or any other members of Hive interested in 3D printing who wants to be part of my or both of our 3D printing communities. Please respect their right to freedom of association. If you have something to reply do it to one of my posts so I can just Wubba Lubba Dub-Dub you and get back to what I am doing. Please and thank you.

Sorry. I just realized I read in that other post's replies you wanted this kind of stuff off your posts. I don't have you friended on Discord for private conversations though. Once you read that last reply I'll delete it and this reply to respect your wish to not have this kind of stuff polluting your blog posts.

If you want to friend me for private conversations on Discord I am Holovision#8104
