"Show Your VYB" 3D Print

@vyb.vyb is holding a contest. One of the possible ways to enter the contest is through "Show Your VYB".

The contest announcement post mentions Creative Commons and specifically the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license That license is similar to the Creative Commons CC BY-SA 3.0 license which I tend to put my 3D print designs under like the Hive Logo Cube and the physical Proof of Brain token. The main difference is the VYB contest image to adapt and remix is under a non-commercial license. Therefore, for this design I am entering in the contest I am putting the 3D model under the same BY-NC-SA 4.0 license.

One last thing before we start: If I win any staked VYB for my contest entry can it be sent to @holovision.cash? Thanks in advance.

Making the 3D Model

The first thing I did was to convert the 2D VYB contest image into a 3D object that could be imported into a CAD program. For this model I used the on-line CAD tools in tinkercad.com.

One of the easiest ways I know to convert a 2D text image into a 3D .stl file is imagetostl.com. To get the clearest detail I had to increase the contrast in a graphics editing program.

After creating the .stl file of the VYB contest image I imported it into Tinkercad. I already had a blank template for a refrigerator magnet so I imported the VYB object into that model's workspace.

Then the VYB .stl 3D object needed to be manipulated so it could be embedded into the refrigerator magnet template.

Once the VYB text was properly inserted I aligned the two objects.

Finally I grouped the two virtual objects together as one object.

In Tinkercad I moved my viewpoint 360 degrees around the object to inspect it.

I was then ready to export my 3D model as a .stl so my 3D printer's slicer software could convert it into G-code for my Tronxy XY-2 Pro 3D printer.

3D Printing the Model

3D printing the model was pretty straightforward. Since the model laid flat on the print bed no supports were needed but I used a brim for bed adhesion. For this model I printed with 20% infill.

I am using my 3D print and some magnetic strips to make a refrigerator magnet but if you print your own you can adapt and remix the design or just simply paint it.

I've made my 3D model file publicly available for download on Tinkercad.com and Thingiverse.com under the same Creative Commons license as the VYB contest image in the announcement post.

This totally makes sense. I see more and more interesting ways to show vyb. 3 D opens the way to many types of mixed media... not just digital art but an unlimited way of expressing validation of brain. Real stamps are also fun. Maybe I shpuld stamp my head.... VERIFIED!!!

Thank you. I regularly put my POB votes toward artists like @gloriaolar, @teesart, @maxwellmarcusart, et al. Hive has some fantastic artists. Combine that great creativity with the metaverse and the future is going to be awesome!

Wow that is absolutely amazing I love how 3d printing really opens up so many unique applications that never existed before. You can even use it to make an ink stamper rather easily with a cool lettering design of vyb so that way you can just stamp it onto random packages
