I've been going through my old comments on the "old platform" and overwriting them with links to Hive. While doing this I came across a Steemhunt post by @macoolette made almost exactly two years ago.
The website for the Solar Sinter experiment by inventor Markus Kayser is still available for viewing at the time of this writing and has around two dozen pictures of the process of converting desert sand and sunlight into usable 3D objects.
Of course, this process probably isn't just limited to desert terrain on Earth. I imagine a process like this would be vitally important to future space exploration. Lunar regolith may someday be heated and shaped for habitat construction.
