NEWS FROM THE MEADOWS 09.07.2020
The Marbled White butterfly (Melanargia galathea) is feeding on Knautia arvensis flower.
While the black ants are collecting the mature grains ...
... on some species of grass ...
... and some other grasses ...
... are still in bloom ...
... although the tiny flowers are starting to fall on the vegetation underneath the tall grass.
This minuscule larvae, I don't know the species, is hiding down there, on the flat herbaceous plants.
This small moth (and again, I don't know the exact species) is resting on a higher level, on the leaf of some taller plant.
Some extremely small larvae are running around some tiny flowers hidden in the grass.
The Spotted Fritillary (Melitaea didyma) caterpillar is resting on the dry stem.
Some other caterpillars ... unfortunately I don't know of what species ...
... have built a pretty large communal tent ...
... in the area covered with short grass and various flat plants ... not far from the sea.
It's an impressive architecture made of silk ...
... with many layers, tunnels and hallways.
I don't know the name of this beautiful hairy plant.
It grows on the stony meadows near the sea.
Here you can see a grasshopper, camouflaged on this plant.
The colorful Myopa dorsalis fly is resting on another Knautia arvensis flower.
The caterpillar of some Snout moth species is climbing around the thorny asparagus plant.

The Mallow Skipper butterfly (Carcharodus alceae) is resting on some dry plant ... in an interesting pose.
Here you can see the same butterfly in a more traditional pose :D
The shiny Mint leaf beetles (Chrysolina herbacea) are forming small groups ...
... scattered like clusters of jewels, all around the meadow.
This pair of Meliscaeva cinctella flower flies is mating on the green stem of grass ...
... while the Lynx spider Oxyopes heterophthalmus ...
(Enlargeable)
... is waiting in ambush on some long, dried out straw.
Many plants are dry ... their seed pods are wide open.
At the end of the day ...
(Enlargeable)
... while many small birds are singing their evening songs ...
(Enlargeable)
... these small wild bees ...
(Enlargeable)
... are forming small groups ...
(Enlargeable)
... on the dried out vegetation ...
... where they are vell hidden and relatively safe during the night.
