NEWS FROM THE MEADOWS 06.07.2020

It's another hot & sunny day on the coastal meadows ...
IMG_9774 malo.jpg
... the grass is tall ...
IMG_9776 malo.jpg
... the bindweed is slowly crawling and spreading between the stems ...
IMG_9771 malo.jpg
... adding some lovely flowers to the picture ... and then ...
IMG_9767 malo.jpg
... a wild bee ... of some species unknown to me, lands on one of these fragile trumpets, to feed.
IMG_9988 malo.jpg
Flowers are everywhere ...
(Enlargeable)
... small, wild flowers ... a variety of shapes and colors.
IMG_9977 malo.jpg
These tiny, intense yellow stars ...
IMG_9975 malo.jpg
... grow on an interesting succulent plant ...
IMG_9970 malo.jpg
... on the seaside border of the meadow, where the terrain gets stony ... and the grass is much shorter.
IMG_6514 malo.jpg
Here is another decorative flower from the tall grass.
IMG_0085 malo.jpg
Butterflies are flying around, visiting the flowers.
Here is some fritillary species ... I wasn't able to see the pattern on the lower surface of the wings, so I don't know the exact species here.
IMG_9703 malo.jpg
This colorful species resting in the relatively short grass not far from the sea ...
IMG_9705 malo.jpg
is the Queen of Spain Fritillary (Issoria lathonia)
IMG_9780 malo.jpg
While many plants are still in bloom ... some of them are in fruits & seeds phase.
IMG_9783 malo.jpg
These are the berries of the Smilax aspera ... that grows similarly to the bindweed ... but while the bindweed is gentle ... this plant is thorny, resilient ... and is hard to pass through dense barriers she often forms.
IMG_9908 malo.jpg
The see pods of this plant similar to the cultivated Green Pea are cracking open ... making the colorful seeds visible ;D and photographable.
IMG_9866 malo.jpg
Seeds of some grasses are also mature ... or almost ... here you can see (or almost :D)a shield bug nymph camouflaged on the ear of grass.
IMG_9868 malo.jpg
From this angle, you can take a better look.
IMG_9655 malo.jpg
Underneath the bug ... on the stem of grass ... the blister beetle Lytta vesicatoria is resting. This one is metallic green with a bit of copper shine ... and this is the most common color of this species ...
IMG_9632 malo.jpg
... but some beetles here on the meadow, are shiny in an almost completely copper tone ...
IMG_9620 malo.jpg
... shiny but almost invisible among the dried out stems.
IMG_9885 malo.jpg
The moth with small narrow wings (I don't know the species) ...
(Enlargeable)
... is also quietly posing nearby.
IMG_9918 malo.jpg
There is another interesting moth ... on the green leaf of grass ... underneath the dry stems.
IMG_9784 malo.jpg
The Acontia trabealis is resting on the border of the Bindweed flower after feeding in the center of this floral trumpet.
IMG_9696 malo.jpg
This small wild bee ... or some kind of wasp, I'm not sure ... was also photographed on the petals of this type of flower.
IMG_0054 malo.jpg
The colorful Trichodes apiarius beetle ...
(Enlargeable)
... is feeding on the elegant carpet made of beautiful white florets - the Wild carrot flower.
IMG_9901 malo.jpg
The brown planthopper (it looks like Issus coleoptratus, but I'm far from sure) ... is walking along the green stem of grass...
IMG_9777 malo.jpg
... and this minuscule Lady beetle, the Psyllobora vigintiduopunctata is hidden on the lower surface of some large leaf ... on one of the many herbaceous plants mixed with grass.
IMG_9290 malo.jpg
The thorny Scolymus hispanicus plant also grows here, near the sea. The lynx spider Oxyopes heterophthalmus is resting among the thorns ...
IMG_9301 malo.jpg
... and this small crab spider, probably the Thomisus onustus male, is threatening my camera.
IMG_0044 malo.jpg
A line of cypress trees is growing along one side of the meadow ... and the wall lizard (Podarcis muralis) is taking the sunbath, camouflaged on the bark.
As always in these posts on HIVE, all the photographs are my work.

I'm someone with insect phobia. But I really like your photos. Is this a contradiction? :D

It is :D but humans are best defined by their contradictions, is quite normal. I have some kind of phobia regarding loud, crowded environments :D but still like some very loud concerts.

These are very nice photos! You could make invisible insects very important and handsome!
Those wild flowers also become like elegant princesses! Live those tiny flowers! Those butterflies are just like exquisite dancers. You belong to a different world of tiny beings and invisible insects!
