JUST ONE FUZZY INSECT TODAY

I was unusually swamped by a series of expected & unexpected tasks today. There were things to do, places to visit, and people to talk to. That's why I prepared a short post with only one insect.

But the insect I'm relaying on today is cute and fuzzy, a very memorable little arthropod. It's probably the closest thing to a six-legged buzzing teddy bear I'm aware of.

(Enlargeable)

This is a fly from the Bombyliidae family. Flies from that family are commonly known as bee flies. Some of them have this very adorable and kinda cartoonish appearance. When it comes to the exact species, I'm pretty sure (but not completely sure) that this is the Bombylius minor.

(Enlargeable)

The photographs shown here were taken long ago. In 2009.

AND THAT'S IT. AS ALWAYS HERE ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK - THE END.

This arthropod is really cute and fuzzy as you said. The hairy nature of her body makes her cute 🥰

Nice shots. Love them 💕

It's a beautiful and "furry" creature!... WOW!... Great macros!... I've started doing some macros recently after not doing them for some time... And a lot of my inspiration came from seeing your posts where you share macros, dear friend!... I can only say: Thank you very much!...

I myself have seen this kind of insect for the first time in my life. It is very beautiful and you have worked very hard to photograph it. Your work is always very good.

It looks rare to me. The photography is lovely though.

What even is this 😂. I agree it looks like a teddy bear insect! It had to believe it's part of the flies, looks way more like a bee. Maybe that's their defence. Predictors think they are bees and stay away!
