Amata huebneri with an abdomen mimicking a tiger's tail
Amata huebneri is a moth species that has a lot of habitat in Indonesia. I always spot them flying low or perched in the bushes along the path when I go for nature walks.
Despite the fact that this kind of moth is common and easy to find here, I never tire of documenting them since they are so gorgeous.
Amata huebneri is commonly known as the wasp moth or tiger moth. The adult moth's wings are black with translucent markings, whereas the juvenile moth's wings are almost entirely translucent. The abdomen is orange with black bands, mimicking a tiger's tail.
I took these photos with my smartphone camera and macro lens near the Pusong reservoir in Lhokseumawe City yesterday afternoon.
