The new Apple Watch Series 6 is expected to be launched in the next few months (Coronavirus dependant). Each iteration brings a list of revolutionary or evolutionary hardware features.

Series 2 brought water resistance and GPS.

Series 3 brought LTE and talking Siri

Series 4 brought bigger screens and ECG monitoring.

Series 5 brought the Always On Display

Series 6 will bring the ……..

Sleep Monitoring

Apple heavily markets the Apple Watch as a lifestyle and fitness device. A major focus for many fitness folks is quality of sleep. For generations now, Apple has packed the watch with all sorts of bleeding edge sensors that are more than capable of tracking the key biometric and motion elements used to monitor sleep. But for some reason, they have never decided to include the software piece to unlock that hidden potential.

Series 6 could be the time they choose to do that. It has been one of the features that has attracted an increasingly loud chorus of requestors.

Multi-Day Battery Life

During each launch, Apple has rolled out a list of exciting new features, followed by the consistent promise of 18hrs battery life.

What that equates to in real terms for the average user is 1.5 to 2 days battery life at best. This results in most people not being in a position to rely on the battery for a full second day, therefore charging every single day.

If Apple can find a way to increase battery capacity, or decrease usage, or both, then they may be able to make it into the realms of true multi-day battery life.

It might not seem like much, but to be able to go 2 full days between charges is a big deal, especially for more adventurous types who are not always in ready reach of a power socket.

Round Display

This one may be a little far-fetched, but I would love to see Apple moving to round display. The currently rectangular design has remained pretty much unchanged over six generations. Admittedly series 4 & 5 were stretched and rounded out a little, but still mostly a big rectangle.

I get it that for Apple, the current shape is iconic. Nothing looks like an Apple Watch, but if they just went round then they could fit in more interesting watch faces, a bigger battery, etc.

As I said, a little far fetched, but would be very interesting to see!

What do you hope to see as a new, cool feature on Apple Watch Series 6? What is on your wish-list?
