China may roll out e-cigarette rules amid global vaping backlash: state media (Reuters)
- China, the world’s largest tobacco market with over 300m smokers, may introduce rules for the country’s still relatively underdeveloped e-cigarette industry that would cover e-cigarette devices, packaging and the liquids that are used in them.
- The news comes at a time when several countries (including Australia, Brazil and Japan) have banned or have limited aspects of the e-cigarette market, with India banning the sale, production and importing of e-cigarettes last week and South Korea advising citizens to avoid vaping following reports of a vaping-related illness in the US.
Analysis and Comments
- A series of negative news on vaping this week, including Massachusetts imposing a four-month ban on vaping product sales as mystery illness spreads, the U.S. CDC expecting hundreds more cases of this new vaping-related illness, and finally Juul hiring former tobacco exec as CEO and ceasing all US marketing after it got a formal letter from the FDA for illegally pitching its e-cigarettes as safer alternative to smoking.
- It does seem somewhat surprising that there is now a sudden outbreak of these acute cases of illness given that vaping has been around for about a decade or so. However, as far as clinical studies go, a decade is not a long time and the longterm effects of vaping are therefore still not very well understood.
- Needless to say the series of bad news on vaping is unlikely to end here given the number of new issues that have recently been reported in the media

The e-cigarettes pray on the weak and I don't think they are a healthier solution to the natural cigarettes. There can be studied to prove one or the other, but nobody can say that any of these are healthy. Maybe marijuana is better from both the alternatives as at least you enjoy it better and also alleviate medical pains.
The health authorities are monitoring cases of serious lung diseases that may be associated with the use of electronic cigarettes, such measures are being introduced after reporting deaths related to vaping in the United States. Health and other institutions have reported of a "mechanism for reporting cases of severe pneumopathy occurring in vapers.
@vlemon, People know Smoking is not good for Health but yet they do it.
They need to safeguard their citizens so I should expect them to issue something as soon as possible

I think e-cigarettes must have to banned. and not only that i think all cigarettes have to be banned.
According to Center for Disease control and prevention, USA -- Cigarette smoking is the leading PREVENTABLE cause of death in the United States
Vape cartridge fluid contains upto 16mg nicotine based upon the cartridge. According to research on 500 respiratory disease due to vaping, six died due to "vaping lung disease" coz it contains THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol -- one of the 113 cannabinoids identified in cannabis.)
BUT on the other side it is also one of the major ways (at present) to try to stop smoking and are evidences, just coz of that great risk doctors still not recommend to use them. You can go for safer ways like gum, etc.
