Chronic respiratory diseases are long-term breathing problems that occurs due to troubles in the airways. It can affect anyone irrespective of their age. Follows are various chronic respiratory diseases that affects the most population,

  1. Asthma
Asthma is an ongoing lung problem that causes wheezing, coughing, chest tightness and breathlessness. The small tubes in our lungs called bronchi help carry air in and out of the lungs. When a person has asthma, their bronchi becomes more sensitive than normal.
Even accidental contact with few allergic substances can trigger the infection in the breathing airway. As a result, the airways of the lungs become narrower and the concentration of sticky mucus increases. Some of the common asthma triggers include:
    • Animal Fur
    • Pollen
    • Mites
    • Viruses
    • Cigarette Smokes

  2. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease or COPD is a lung disease that is preventable and treatable. Sufferers may experience shortness of breath, tiredness and other symptoms like trouble breathing. The earlier you're diagnosed with this condition, the better treatment options you'll have to improve your quality of life. However, it becomes very hard to breathe in and breathe out as the disease progresses.
A COPD patient can suffer from either inflammation or emphysema. Inflammation occurs when the obstruction of the breathing tube is too much, and this narrows the breathing even more. More narrowed breaths means that they are not able to breathe properly. Emphysema is a condition where sacs of the lungs are damaged and lose their elasticity. This will narrow the breathing airways and prevent the lungs from emptying the air.

  3. Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF)
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a severe lung disease. At rest, oxygen moves from the air sacs in your lungs, through the bloodstream and then into the cells of the organs. In the case of IPF, chronic inflammation causes scar tissue to grow within your lungs which makes it hard to breathe. The condition of IPF worsens as time passes. The lung damage that is caused due to Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis is progressive and irreversible.
Nintena 150mg Capsule helps to treat idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. It contains the active ingredient Nintedanib, and it works by blocking multiple receptors & enzymes (RTKs) and non-receptor enzyme kinases (nRTKs).

  4. Pneumonia
Pneumonia can be a life-threatening lung condition that is common among people of all ages. It occurs when you or your child inhales droplets from coughing, sneezing, etc. Either through viruses or bacteria.
Some people are at a greater risk of getting pneumonia due to poor nutritional status, other conditions, or weak immunity. If someone contracts influenza or COVID19 virus and suffers from severe pneumonia as a result. The problem with these viruses is that they can lead to the person's death quite easily.

  5. Lung Cancer
Lung cancer generally begins inside the cells in the lining of the bronchi and different parts of the lung- like the bronchioles or alveoli. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer are two types of lung cancer that are most common. NSCLC currently accounts for about 80% to 85% of all cases. The remaining 10-15% of lung cancers are small-cell lung cancers, spreading faster than NSCLC.

Some lung diseases are termed chronic for a reason. They stick around. When you start making some lifestyle changes, it might be easier to manage your symptoms. Your doctor may prescribe certain medications and suggest a few lifestyle modifications to help minimise them and prevent any further complications.
