Hive Hackathon - Well... errr... it's a couple of pages... | Hive.Uno

Hello everyone,

This is not the brilliant demonstration post I would have hoped for. I will now list my excuses for not getting further in this hackathon:

1. It couldn't have happened at a worse time lol
2. I have 5 units to do for college (in like 3 weeks time)
3. These influence my final grade
4. I'm not about to waste another whole year of my life just to win a Hive Hackathon. Maybe I have my priorities wrong but in my eyes 1 year of my time > x hive in prizes and fame and love and fortune from the best community.

Anyhow, enough of my whining...

What was I aiming for?

I was aiming to make a site like HiveInvite which didn't require your private posting & active keys to invite people to the chain. While it's probably safe enough, I refuse to use the site due to the fact that I have to type in my posting and active keys in order to make invite links and accounts. This is surely possible with either HiveSigner or Keychain. I also wanted the emails to look a lot better than the plaintext ones you'd get from HiveInvite (no offense) but I don't think people expect some 1990's looking plaintext email when they sign up for the "Newest decentralised Social Media Platform"

Problem & Solution tl;dr

There is no secure way to invite people to hive with your own accounts, so I intended to fix that.

What did I get done?

Barely anything to be blatently honest with you, I wish I could have done more but my other projects for college got in the way. The biggest one is for hive and once it is marked and plagerism checked, I'll be sure to release it for community use. I'm just having some of my classmates "battle-test" it first. So, what did I get done with this:

• A homepage (at least)
• Email templates & Sending
• Signing-in kind of (I changed methods midway through which clearly didn't help the cause)
• That's pretty much it... but this is another bullet point so it looks good.

Yes, I really published my MailGun secret key and now I have to go and tell support I am an idiot...
