A Blaze of Glory Over Mount Fuji
1
I came across a video on Twitter of a meteor falling over the skies of Mount Fuji. This volcano is rather iconic, playing a prominent role in Japanese art and literature. So, my imagination lit up when I saw the meteor streaking down the skies above it.

It's almost like a scene from a Japanese painting, I thought. Has someone already done this scene? It was very striking and surely a Japanese artist had already painted it. I did some half-assed research and couldn't find such a painting. So, I immediately imagined myself grabbing my pencils and watercolors to recreate the scene and hopefully have one painting done by the end of the month. Then I thought, nah, to hell with that, and fired up Stable Diffusion instead.
The following are a series of images that I (and my AI familiar) generated to depict the scene. I have divided the image into two sets. The first set contains the images in which the prompt contained the word meteor streak. In the second set I removed the word streak and left only meteor. Everything else remained the same, including prompting the AI to generate the images in a Japanese style of painting.
Set 1- Meteor Streak over Mount Fuji
For this set, I created ten iterations of the prompt and selected the five that I thought were the best, including this post's cover image.

Set 2- Meteor over Mount Fuji
In this set, I removed the word "streak" and just let the AI do the rest. Ten images were generated, and I selected five.

I generated these and other images in under 10 minutes. I love the variety created. In all honesty, it would take me a very long time to create just one, let alone 20 paintings that look like the ones generated by the software. This is just the tip of the AI ice berg we're about to hit, so buckle up 'cause in the showdown between human vs machine generated art, we're all going down in a blaze of glory indeed.
