HiRISE The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera

One of my favorite Twitter accounts I follow is the HiRISE Bot, https://twitter.com/HiRISEBot. All it does is pull and post photos of Mars taken by the HiRISE camera aboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.

That is the image of a small crater posted on the HiRISE Bot account. Here is an another image from the Arizona State University HiRISE site along with a large field view after it.

You'll notice the small rectangle in the image above, that is the field of view that holds the crater. Now, think about the massive craters surrounding it!

As a rockhound, I can only imaging the treasures that await geologists and collectors on Mars. New minerals, new combinations, rare minerals, etc.!

ASU manages and is responsible for the HiRISE camera. Launched in 2005 the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter arrived in 2006 and the HiRISE camera has been taking incredible picture ever since.
