Indefinitely, if necessary. It is one means of defending the blockchain. You ought to read some of the technical docs or talk to the witnesses. They really care about it.

Over on Mastodon I keep seeing people say 'all crypto is bollocks/scams', but they obviously haven't looked into Hive.

I'm not going to get into a discussion with you about how wonderful Hive is because my experience and that of many others are very different to yours, and it would seem both of us are not willing to move from those positions.

I was nearly kicked out of mastodon.org.uk for mentioning Hive. If I hadn't of known the Instance admin, I suspect I would have been removed pretty much like you can be removed from communities on Hive.

Far more people dislike and distrust Crypto than like it, so you and, I suppose I are in a minority. I think Hive has got a very long way to go before it comes even close to the likes of Tumblr, Instagram or the Fediverse, for that matter. But we're getting off-topic, and it's not fair to hijack this guy's comments thread.

Is a lot of that dislike based on ignorance and/or sensational news stories rather than actual experience?

Even if you exclude the crypto-haters that leaves many more millions who might be interested in Hive, so it has growth potential.

If you can get kicked off a Mastodon instance then that's an obstacle to 'free speech'. I've mentioned Hive loads of times there and nobody has told me not to, but I have been called a 'crypto bro' (whatever that is). Having to move elsewhere is a hassle and I'm not likely to run my own instance. I have a permanent home on Hive.

The guy who did the podcast may not even see these comments, but I hope he doesn't mind anyway. I gave him a vote.
