DualSense - new controller for PS5

Those who followed the PS5 and the new controller for this console will probably remember that the unofficial name of this device was DualShock 5, which was supposed to be the natural successor of the previous pad, which, as Nishino reminds us, was positively received by players and game developers. Sony decided to keep the new, beloved features in the next controller and add new and improved design.

There was already talk of a more adaptive haptic technology that would make the resistance change according to circumstances and situations (we wrote about this in one of our first articles about PlayStation 5: PlayStation 5 will come in 2020. What else do we know about the new Sony console?). Now Nishino points to the issue of design. The new pad had to be handy, so we had to find a way to conveniently place the adaptive triggers and the rest of the hardware. The challenge for the designers was to make the DualSense seem smaller and lighter than in reality.

What does the new PlayStation 5 controller look like?
To achieve this effect, the angle of the triggers was changed and subtle changes were made to the handles. What else has changed? The "Share" button has been replaced with "Create" to offer players new ways to share the gameplay (details of this will be revealed closer to the console launch). A microphone has also been built in, allowing for conversations without having to reach for the headset. Nishino points out that it is to be a solution prepared rather for short chats.

The layout of the light bar, which is now on both sides of the pad, has also changed, enlarging the accessory slightly optically. Sony has also decided on two colors - black and white - differently than before. Interestingly, the issue of DualSense biofeedback collection, which came out this year, was not raised.
