Solanum Torvum Fruits has several names such as Turkey Berry, Susumber, Kudanekayi, Makhuea Phuang, Wild Eggplant, Mini-Eggplant, or in Indonesia this fruit is called Rimbang or Cempokak.

Solanum Torvum Fruits contain vitamin A which can cure nearsighted eyes or myopia. Solanum Torvum Fruits also contain calcium, iron, and fiber.

Solanum Torvum is believed to be good for bones and teeth. Solanum Torvum has anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and antioxidant properties. In addition, it has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties.

The traditional belief in my area in Indonesia claims that Solanum Torvum Fruits can improve eyesight health. In general, the Indonesian people use Solanum Torvum Fruits for a mixture of dishes such as stir-fry type food, and the most famous one is used in Cassava Leaves cooking with coconut milk.

My mother to more than 60 years old still has good eye health. Likewise with me who is grateful to have good vision health even though I regularly stare at the computer screen for my writing work.

  • Camerooniaan traditional medicine used Solanum Torvum for management of pain and inflammation. Solanum Torvum is also used to treat fever, wounds and tooth decay.
  • The Mayans used it to treat infections, rheumatism, and vaginal bleeding that were not connected to the menstrual cycle.
  • In India, the plant is used as an antidote to snakebite and insect sting. The fruit is used to relieve stomach pains.
  • In Ayurvedic medicine, it is used in the treatment of coughs and colds and as a tonic for the liver. The young fruits area is used to improve eyesight and the leaves are used to treat skin diseases.

My Family's Favorite Recipe

Solanum Torvum Fruit which contains many seeds such as eggplant, with a bitter taste is usually mixed in cooking to reduce the bitter taste but while maintaining the natural benefits of Solanum Torvum Fruits for the body.

One of my family's favorite recipes is Stir-Fried Tofu With Solanum Torvum Fruits. This method will make the food feel fresher because of the juicy Solanum Torvum Fruits.

Tofu also contains natural benefits for the body because it is high in protein.

Tofu which is a fermented product of soybean is also considered good for bone and brain function in the effect of memory and brain function and is also considered to be improved skin elasticity. This is because tofu has a high content of isoflavones.

Ingredients

  • Tofu

  • Solanum Torvum Fruits

  • Red chili pepper
  • Green chili
  • Red onion
  • Garlic
  • Tomato
  • water
  • Oil for sauteing
  • Salt
  • Optional: Sweet Soy Sauce

How to cook

  • Cut fresh tofu with a size that is not too small so as not to crumble when cooked later.

  • Thinly slice all ingredients. For Solanum Torvum Fruits, remove from the stem and leave the fruit intact, not sliced.

  • Heat oil, then fry tofu for a while and drain.

  • Stir-fry spices and Solanum Torvum Fruits. Cook for a while, then add the tofu that has been fried before. Add a little water and salt. You can also add sweet soy sauce according to your taste.

  • Cook until Solanum Torvum Fruits looks wilting and the seasoning has permeated in tofu.

  • Lift and serve as side dishes with rice.
