Something's not right (Gmail)

It was in June of 2009 when I started using Gmail as one of my primary email services alongside Yahoo! mail.

I've been into a lot of "Something's not right" message since then. I just refresh my browser and then voila it returns to normal again.

But not today, actually its yesterday when I noticed that my Gmail kept on showing the message "Something's not right".

Also, I cannot open any email, move any email, or delete any email inside my inbox.

I thought the error is on Gmail's server so I let the day pass without using my Gmail account and I decided to try again the next day.

But after a day the error still exist.

Google Chrome extensions causing the error?

The next day I thought that Google Chrome extensions are causing the error because there is no update at the time for Google Chrome when the error appears.

Also, if the error is on the side of Gmail server it will be fixed by Google's engineers in just a matter of few hours if not minutes.

I disabled all of my extensions and then I restarted Google Chrome again, it did not fix the program.

Clearing browser history

Most of the time clearing your browser's history helps in solving various problems with regards to browsing websites, the browsers itself, and any other errors that are related to internet and browsers.

I did erase my Google Chrome's history using the "Basic" setting. Take note, I used "Basic" not "Advanced".

To minimize the effect of clearing the history I just deleted my browser's history for one week. Also, I checked "Browsing history", "Cookies and other site data", "Cached images and files".

It did fix the problem.

If you are also using Yahoo! mail on the same browser you need to login it again.

Why the error happens

It could be a case of a corrupted data such as cookies, images, or files that are essential for Gmail to work flawlessly.

If something is corrupted within an application it could behave abnormally just like what I have experienced on my Gmail.
