Fancy an Electric Car?

Let’s talk about the electric cars. No, not “Tesla”, there are other electric cars, you know. Let’s see what is in the shops of the leading World manufacturer of electric cars — China!

Yes, China! They have already abandoned r&d on internal combustion engine based cars, and went fully electric. The first task was, of course, developing a battery technology. And China today is a leading force in production of the most advanced car batteries. European battery companies invest in China rather than at home. So, what is a priority for China?

Since “Tesla”, “Nissan”, “BMW”, “Renault” and other traditional car manufacturers are trying to improve their profit margins first, Chinese manufacturers turned to solving current problems of pollution and noise in the big cities, avoiding gridlocks, low parking space — and all of that with a low price! How did they do it?

Well, as any developing economy, China is copying successful design. For a model “Baojun E100” they have practically copied “Smart for Two”, added electric engine and a very nice low price of $5326 — albeit only for Chinese market!

Autonomy with a fully charged battery is about 155 km, which may not sound so much, but it is quite fine for everyday city commute. Battery can be charged in 7.5 hours. Max speed of this little beauty is 110 km/h.

OK, if you are not Chinese, and you don’t want to wait export models from Baojun, much less cheap car from the European manufacturer (Renault said it will come — in the next five years!) here is one you may buy today. It is a “Winter Trotinet”, 4 Kw “Linzda E-Auto”.

This one can be purchased all over the World, even in Serbia. Yes, here charging its battery would cost you only $0.15, and it could be charged through the standard 220V plug in 6 hours.

It really doesn’t have specs like “Baojun E100” and it costs a little less then 8000 euros — with air conditioning. Looking from the bright side, you can turn your investment in just two years. And you can brag you were a pioneer of the clean environment & climate change fight. Max autonomy with fully charged battery is around 120 km, and the max speed is only 60 km/h. Perfect. No rampage on the road :)

And let’s not forget the old idea — Nissan Scoot — which is almost a car aimed at the really tight spaces! And maybe some of you will find it is more fun, especially because you don’t have to buy one to try it:

It's interesting. In fact, there is a wide selection of Tesla electric steering wheels. But how good and safe are they? Not long ago, I read an article about Electric car accident was to learn about the safety of electric cars, as well as whether it is worth buying them at this time
