Android 3 was a very good version of the operating system. I like it, and it doesn't look outdated yet. In fact, all the following releases have just been refinements of the new capabilities or just building on top of it. Android 4 was purely the cell-phone adaptation of Honeycomb, without any single change to the APIs. Without the hardware acceleration firstly introduced on 3.0, there could have not be those beautiful transitions between activities on apps. Sad that even Google tends to avoid speaking about Honeycomb and when it does, it is for blaming themselves for releasing it.
