But now my CoolBot wifi is working!!!!!

So I picked up a wifi extender so my CoolBot would connect since my router in the house just didn't make it the 60 meters to the cooler. I was racking my brain for a place to put it and was looking at running a line in the attic and mounting in place of wires running outside.

WELL....

I climbed the ladder and I figured I should be safe and test the lines sticking out of the end of the attic. Bare, flush-ish cut wires just sitting there. I touched my Fluke leads to the wire and WTF!?! It was a LIVE 240 volt line, just hanging out in space!

I ran inside and found out that the only unlabeled 240v breaker was for that line. I shut it off then went and gathered the parts I needed. I took one hot leg, the neutral, and the ground and wired them into a dual gang outlet that I set into a single box mounted to the wall.

It works PERFECT! I am super stoked now to have the better wifi for around the farm. My CoolBot is reading about 30% signal strength but that is more than enough for the minimal data it transfers. The wifi antennas are in that configuration because the CoolBot read the highest signal strength like this. Its wifi box is at nearly the same elevation as the extender so it gives me a pretty solid signal.

You can see the graph for the last 6 hours and the cycling of the a/c.

I checked the power usage of my cooler for each of the 2 states, fan only and compressor on. The fan state is for 7 to 10 minutes and the compressor state is for 3 to 5 minutes.

Now I have to figure out how to calculate my power usage based on my measurements. A little spreadsheet work for tonight.

I emailed CoolBot about maybe having an api for data pulls but they don't have anything going yet, yet. STUPID fast response to my email and a great product. I found a winner.
