I BUILT A DECK!!!
So not the biggest thing in the world, but damnit I am proud of it. Not quite finished as I need to trim the joists and install the fascia boards over them. Then the railing will be getting installed, maybe this weekend.
16' wide x 8' deep is the size. It gives us 7 feet of deck not in front of a sliding window for which we can put a table and chairs. It is soooooo nice to sit here in the shade of the trees on the newly installed deck.
This is built with 2x6x8 and 4x4x8 pressure treated and Fiberon composite decking. I am using the Trex brand hidden fasteners since they are universal for groove sided decking.
We have the bigger lower deck section priced and will be doing later this summer. It will be a 16ft x 12ft deck about 14-16 inches lower than the upper. 288 sq ft of extra living space for 8 months of the year. Even winters should see us using the deck at times.
This is a project that manifested really quickly. @stryeyz and I talked about this for all of a year, seriously and with potential financial ability to make happen. I had planned on using our Home Depot card and no interest deal and a lucky infusion of cash propelled us into construction.
Tomorrow I am hitting Home De Pot for the last couple of pieces and then the deck will be finished by mid day.
