Anyone else seeing less engagement here than even Steemit?

On Steemit I would expect to get a little engagement in terms of comments etc, but Hive/Peakd seems to be even more bot-central.

Are there actual humans on this platform at all? Where are they hiding?

I don't mean comments like "good post" and "vote for vote", I mean actual humans writing considered responses.

Can this thing even survive if the main activity is farming for rewards?

I have a solution, but nobody here will like it. Make it so you have to actively create original content in terms of posts and comments, otherwise, your rewards get withheld and get put into a central pot.

One issue is there will eventually be "micro blogging" systems. A tweet can be valuable content, but all too often it is not really anything more than another banal outlet.

You could argue that "curation" is content creation, but it is too easy to automate.

What do you think?

Compared to most social media sites we have relatively few users. That being said, there have been many reports comparing engagement on Hive and Steem (see @dalz posts for some of them) and Hive has been performing better.

You also post about topics that only interest a minority of the user base. You also need more followers so more people see your posts by default. As with all social media, you also need a regular posting schedule. You have been gone for a long time.

We need more users so all topics get a lot of attention.

On that note, I've noticed that members of the DIY community don't interact with each other all that much anyway. Certainly, those who are accustomed to instant gratification will be left wanting with this crowd. To use myself as an example, if I'm not posting something, then I'm working on my next project. I don't generally become aware of content related to my own until just after posting, and I can then see what else has been posted under the same tag.

I definitely intend to spend more time here. Though, I need to get my Steem converted to Hive before it is worthless first!
