Rectas Paralelas||Parallel lines

In the following image you can see several examples of parallel lines, in it we see the rails of a train, diagonal lines separated from each other at equal distances and the internal walls of a building.
There are in reality an infinity of examples that give us the idea of parallel lines.
Here are some activities to do:
Dadas las ecuaciones:/ Given the equations:
4x+2y=1, y , y=2 -2x
a) ¿Qué representan en el plano, dichas ecuaciones?/What do these equations represent on the plane?
b) Llevar dichas ecuaciones a la forma y=mx+b/ Take these equations to the form y = mx + b
c) Indica la pendiente de cada recta./Indicate the slope of each line.
d) Gráfica ambas rectas en el mismo plano/Graph both lines on the same plane
What is the relationship between the two lines?
f) Como se podría generalizar este resultado?/How could this result be generalized?
Respuestas
a) Representan rectas en el plano./ They represent lines in the plane.
b) y=-2x+1/2, y, y=-2x+2
c) Ambas tienen la misma pendiente -2/Both have the same slope -2
d)
e) Son paralelas/ They are parallel
Two lines L 1 and L 2 with slopes m 1 and m 2 respectively are parallel if and only if m1 = m2
Veamos en el siguiente ejemplo como es aplicada la deinición de rectas paralelas / Let's see in the following example how the definition of parallel lines is applied
Example: Find the equation of the straight line that passes through the point (2, -1) and is parallel to the line 3x + y -2 = 0
We want to find the equation of L 2 that passes through the point (2, -1) and that is parallel to L 1 : y = -3x + 2 whose slope is m 1 = -3. Since L 1 is parallel to L 2 then both have the same slope, this is: m 1 = m 2 = -3.
Now we have a point (2, -1) and the slope of L 2 : y = -3x + b, just subtract to get the value of b, like this: -1 = -3.2 + b, performing the operations and clearing b we have: y = -3x +5, which is the final result.
