Machine Learning to Generate Non-Existing Humans.

Hi Everyone, the other day I stumbled upon an interesting and perhaps slightly freaky website. The website https://thispersondoesnotexist.com/ provides portrait images of people. What's the point you might ask? Well, these people shown when going to this website are all non-existing. That is, they have been created using a computer algorithm. Hit refresh a couple of times and you'll see various different images of non-existing people.

But wait there's more! If you are more an animal person, there are alternatives:

While the non-existing humans in the pictures look quite perfect most of the time, the horses are still not always looking great. But it doesn't matter. The development in this field of research is traveling at the speed of light. And the improvements in methods and algorithms is fast. Soon real and fake will be indistinguishable. It's exciting and also scary. Here's another example of the scary side:

Whether you think this topic is scary ore interesting, it might be useful to learn a bit about it. Here is a videos that explains the concept of generative adversarial networks (GAN), which is the underlying technique generating the non-existing humans on https://thispersondoesnotexist.com/:

Happy learning!
