This last months I’ve been feeling, like in the movie “Catch me if You Can.” Since I started pursuing Slim’s project “WOC,” every meeting I’ve tried to get more and more information, despite the NDA I signed in Mexico City.

I requested to Slim an interview as I mentioned in my last blog, One Idea, One Blockchain, a Billion Opportunities.

He accepted that interview; however, this time, I needed to travel to Cali, Colombia, for my interview.

He would never give me the interview by a video conference or what’s app call, due to his high-level of confidentiality, so I needed to travel to where he was.

Catch me if you can

When I finally purchased my plane ticket and notified Slim about my arrival, he told me they were flying to Cartagena. Lisa wanted to live nearby the ocean, and she wanted to feel and breathe the ocean wind after living in Cali.

I had already my plane ticket to Cali, and now I needed a new ticket for Cartagena. I decided to spend some time in Cali to prepare the interview; it should be funny and creative.

Finally, I got to Cali. I met great local people who became good friends. After one month in Cali and doing some copyright, I had my ticket to Cartagena, and the adventure continued.

Some of the things I learned on this journey is that you can’t take anything for granted. Time is valuable, and you must perform and do what you have to do at all time without ever reducing your efforts. A lear sign that procrastination would never bring good results.

Why do I tell you this?

Because while I took almost a month to get the money and get my interview ready for Slim, I once more hit a snag. As soon as I arrived in Cartagena, the same day I visited Slim and Lisa at their condo, I was hit again with a big surprise.

They were packing to return to Canada because of a Family member loss, and the funerals were taking place in a few days.

Of course, no time for my interview, I could only give Slim my list of questions for the interview, and he would send it back to me in the next few days.

I get stuck at Cartagena for about one more months while I made some money to return to Mexico City. Everything seemed to be against me two plane tickets bought, expenses in two cities, food, accommodation, and clubbing without the interview done was a big failure for me.

Two weeks after they departed from Cartagena; Slim got back in contact with me with the first part of the interview answered.

1-. How did you start creating this Project? What happened in your mind that triggered that idea?

At first, I was an inventor too, and I had to go all the way of the invention route to discover how hard it was. Even to have someone to listens to your idea in the typical innovation system or a bank is a big deal nowadays. Like everyone, I was getting no support nor progress, but I knew something needed to be done to change the way innovation was conduct for so long.

2-. Was the Blockchain part of the Project since the beginning? If not; When did you decide to integrate it?

I had the idea for WOC long ago but It lacked the essential piece that would make it work, we needed to remove human being from the equation to ensure all WOC participants would be treated equally and fairly, that the best ideas would surface and everyone would be safe knowing the money is paid in full and transparently to all participants by the platform; this creates the trustiness environment participants need to thrive.

3-. Why use the Blockchain?

Because it is what we needed for so long to provide for everyone, if you remove undeserved or abusive cost from any products, you would pay a significantly lower price for your goods and could get better comfort in your life without needing two jobs. Blockchain is so ideal for this task; It is a revelation for our future. At last, we are now seeing a way to stop corruption and abuses that non-transparent system are allowing.

4-. Are you a Cypherpunk community member?

Who knows, I could be, but I would be crazy telling you!

5-. Would you say you’re a follower of Satoshi Nakamoto? Or did he inspire you somehow?

Of course, I love the story; it is nice and a bit folkloric at a time, it is a cute legend that has been on for almost ten years. Inspiration wise, Yes Satoshi did inspire me to keep my mouth shut.

6-. Are you Satoshi Nakamoto?

If I were, I would be crazy telling you :)

7-. Which is your Why?

Change things that don’t work correctly; a system that continuously favors the richest is not a system that works properly.

My name is Emmanuel, and I’m from Mexico City. Aside from discovering this “Holy Grail,” I have a huge passion for writing good stories and share them with the people. I have a thing for technology, food, politic, and international business. Lately, I had a great deal of interest for Blockchain Technologies. So here is what I found, that awakes my curiosity on how this will continue to grow.
