That doesn't seem bad at all for free. I think it is pretty cool that you got that and you only had to put out a bit of money for the power supply. I have a question about the mic you pictured here. What is the point of the strings and metal frame around it? I see a lot of them like that and I don't understand the purpose.

The frame is to isolate it from vibration. The mic is suspended on elastic. I also have a pop shield as sounds like 'puh' create a soundwave that can sound nasty as it hits the mic.

Hmm, interesting. What does the vibration do? Does it create like a background hum or something? This is all very interesting!

Well you want the mic to pick up sound through the air, but it could also pick up vibration through the stand. That could be computer fans or even just tapping your foot. My room is not a proper studio with soundproofing, but the mic came with this mount anyway.
