The other day, I opened up Instagram. The first post on my feed was a painting of an attractive model on my following list, claiming to have used artificial intelligence to create the ethereal looking portrait.
Her features had been refined into an illustrative work of art, her facial and body proportions accentuated to perfection, adorned with accessories and garment that made her appear like a goddess. As I scrolled down the page, I realized that multiple other models had taken to doing the same thing. Whether this was governed by some marketing agency or something that they all decided to do this, very likely, but I don't know.
I just had to try it.
Since none of them were saying what the app was in their post descriptions, I ended up having to Google "AI art app". Sure enough, a new AI selfie generating app called Lensa was going viral across all social media platforms. Immediately, I downloaded it. Uploaded 13 different selfies. Thirty minutes later, I was suddenly in the possession of 50 different unique art pieces of myself.
Damn, they looked hella cool.
The next morning, I wrote an article on it. It ranked #4 on Google for the Lensa keyword alone, and suddenly there was a huge surge of traffic to my blog of currently only three published articles. New to the platform, but my last professional career was in online eCommerce and content creation. Didn't expect this one to go off quite like that, though. Medium's got some ranking power for sure.
And of course, like everything in the 2020s so far… people started talking about what's wrong with the app.
A day or two after Lensa went viral, so did Open AI's GPT4/ChatGPT. This language program functions as a chat bot, and in response to prompts, can generate research papers, essays, blog posts, and can even code in Python… in seconds.
Then, for the last half of 2022, Midjourney became popular for its ability to rapidly generate more than just selfies, but very refined, even professional-looking works of art - that can even imitate certain artists' styles.
Since these apps went viral, creatives have criticized them for monetizing AI art selfies, claiming that the datasets used to train the AI have stolen their artwork. Many feel threatened that the sudden interruption of artificial intelligence may threaten their careers and livelihoods.
Without a doubt, *we are in the wild west *right now when it comes to these learning machines. Corporations could end up deciding to replace highly skilled creative or dev positions because of the pace and low-cost rate at which artificial intelligence can pump out content and code.
At the same time however, the same accessibility is enabled for anyone, since the programs come with free demos and very low cost subscription fees for using them.
Needless to say, this AI uprising has really left me with so many questions.

How can AI be used to help creators in creating websites, social media platforms, marketing themselves, all while saving time doing it?
