Ai Yay or Nay?

As usual, the dude is showing up late to the party. Honestly, the last year was almost a complete break from all things tech. I opted out of most social networking, only used my phone for calls, email, and a little shopping. With that said, not only am I out of the loop with what's happening with all things crypto, I'm also out of touch with a lot of the new tech. It's really wild how fast things change now. It's incredible how much changes in just 8 to 12 months industry wide!

A while back at Sunday dinner, my cousin brought up the topic of AI. It was the usual conversation I guess. My cousin didn't trust the results, my 80 year old mother thinks its creepy, I see its potential for misuse from the powers that be... and this was how the conversation went on throughout our Sunday dinner.

That conversation gave me an idea about a good experiment to use with Ai. As many of you know, I'm very pagan as far as spirituality is concerned. I'm eclectic in my practice but lean heavily on Norse mythology. Honestly, for no other reason other than there's a lot of info and modern ritual created around the old Norse and Germanic religions. Personally, I'm half Lebanese which makes me of Phoenician decent. Unfortunately there isn't a lot of info out there on the early Phoenician pantheons and practices. The info that is out there is spread throughout the internet, and a lot of it is crap and conspiracy theory. Part of that is because the past was erased by several current organized religions that burned and destroyed the temples and all the information with them. As with most early religions, their teachings were stamped out with the rise of Christianity and other Judaic based religions.

I decided to use AI to see what it could teach me about my own spiritual heritage and the early Phoenician gods and goddesses. To my surprise, it was filled with tons of information. Good information! I couldn't believe how deep the rabbit hole went. There was enough there that if I wanted to put together a system of magick or devotion I could probably do it. A project I may take on once I find some extra time. It was incredible how quickly it spit out the results. The information on the gods and goddesses described was fairly accurate considering I had done much research over the years. It wasn't 100%, however, considering these practices and beliefs have been erased over millennia, what was there was good. Not only that, the depth of the research was massive. I was blown away.

Doing some shitcoin research the other night, I decided to give AI a try. First I tried Google Gemini AI results through the Google search portal. In seconds it spit out marketcaps, development, developers, usecase. It was like a chatroom with a knowledgeable person answering all your questions. Who are the main developers? What is it's use case? Who's in charge? What was "x" rebranded to?

What used to take all day, was being done in mere seconds.

Personally, I don't think we need an AI assistant for everything. I'm seeing it being incorporated into all kinds of apps. The eBay ai, often posts wrong info in the item description so I don't use it there. There is also the concern that some of the information isn't accurate. You still have to double check important work, at least I would.

I also see the dangers of it in the world we're currently living in. The "powers that be" always seem to figure out the most evil ways to utilize new tech. Instead of bettering mankind, we devise new systems of enslavement, control, and new and improved ways of killing and destroying each other. It's easy to see the surveillance implications and the potential for misuse. Not to mention Ai generated media like deep faked photos, intentional disinformation, and censorship. We're already using it to fly drones, and drop bombs. Do the dangers outweigh the convenience of having this much knowledge at our fingertips.

Just like the internet and search engines changed everything and gave us incredible databases of knowledge. We now have a tool that can filter through all the noise and give us the "meat and potatoes" of any topic we desire. Ai will change everything, and we've merely scratched the surface. We are AI infants, fresh out of the womb. As Ai develops, it's easy to see how it will replace jobs, and continue to grow. Just like Moore's law for transistors, AI will take on a life of its own as it grows. Eventually even building itself. We could be looking at cures for cancer, and I even heard one gentleman on a nightly radio show saying we may actually be able to communicate with dolphins and whales. I'd actually love to have a conversation with my cats. Hopefully we like what they say back to us. Could you imagine.

I get it, there are some real sickos out there... This could be a post in itself. Regardless, a perfect example of over control. Who decides how we use it? One thing we can all agree on probably, this tech gives us a lot of different avenues to debate! That much is certain.

Well, I could gush on and on about Ai. I still have mixed feelings. It's making my research much easier and I see it's potential. However, I also see the dangers and I think there are a lot of them. We're entering a period of time where it's growing increasingly difficult to decipher real from fake and AI will only further that issue.

So far I've tried out and used ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Brave Browser Ai, and Coinmarketcaps AI while researching shitcoins. A few others too. All of them have their own unique features. So far Google Gemini and ChatGPT are my favorites.
