Worklife - An impressive lift!

Good day everyone! Zak here from Cape Town, South Africa.

I am working at the docks and am very busy so I shall need to enjoy a little camera roll of a massive feat of engineering!

This yellow machine is part of the mining equipment and is around 4 storeys tall. Thus the sheer weight and the distance that this machine must go meant that the big crane must be employed.

I am not even sure how many 100s of tonnes this crane can take but it was impressive.. and slow.

This rigging closed the gangway nearest to our container. This meant that we needed to travel right around the vessel and probably added around 2 km of travel between our site establishment and the vessel gangway.

I clocked many miles on my shoes yesterday and I feel quite fatigued.

Thank you for reading this post hope to see you all soon for another work-related post since this is majority of my time spent in the next couple of weeks.

Cheers!

Awesome ! The bit that impresses me most isn't the monster mining gear, or the huge crane. It's the materials technology which goes into the few strands of twisted steel cable strong enough to lift the whole thing up !
