My Battery Was About To Explode, So I Fixed It Myself

This past few months, I noticed my phone battery had become bulky and swollen.

I knew this wasn't just a simple issue because it could explode or cause damage to the internal parts.
So, for safety reasons and to get my phone working effectively again.. I decided to replace its battery.
Instead of buying a new unit or paying for expensive repair services, I decided to do it with my own hands.
I ordered a compatible battery online for ₱557/$9.58, and it arrived this Saturday.
The package was great because it also included a complete set of tools needed for the repair.
And here's my repair process..

I started by carefully disassembling the back cover. I had to do this very slowly and gently because one wrong move could damage the fragile parts and connectors inside.

Once the cover was off, I checked if the new battery matched the old one exactly. And good thing it was a perfect fit.

Next, I removed the screws holding the frame in place. These screws are extremely small! So make sure you place them in one safe spot, so you don't lose even a single one. 'Coz losing them is a headache you don't want, trust me.

After taking off the frame, I then carefully removed the old, swollen battery. Then installed the new one in its place.

After that, I did a test run. When I pressed the power button, thankfully, the phone turned on immediately! Everything was working smoothly with the new battery. 👍🏻

And since the original adhesive was already removed, I used T-7000 glue to put the back panel back. I applied it evenly and pressed the cover down properly.

Also, to make sure it sticks perfectly, I wrapped rubber bands around the phone. Technically, it is recommended to leave it like that for about 8 hours for the glue to dry completely. But I got impatient and removed them in just a few minutes, haha! 🤣
And that’s it! My phone is as good as new again. It feels much safer to use now, and the performance is back to normal. I really hope this new battery lasts long and won't get bloated again anytime soon.
By the way, big thanks to my lovely wife @mayt for documenting all of this! My phone was in my hand at that time, so I couldn't take or capture the moment... good thing she did it for me! 😉
