Non Essential Amino Acids - Glycine (Part 4)
In this post, I will discuss another type of non-essential amino acid, namely Glycine. Previously I discussed several types of essential and non-essential amino acids which you can read in my previous post, or just click on the link below.
About Glycine
Glycine is a type of non-essential amino acid that has many benefits for the body, although the main functions of almost all amino acids are the same, Glycine has a role that cannot be replaced by other types of amino acids.
Glycine is classified as a Glucogenic type of amino acid which is useful for regulating blood sugar levels in the body, so Glycine is one of the substances that can help diabetics to improve an impaired insulin response. This is so beneficial to relieve diabetics who have problems with insulin sensitivity. Besides that, Glycine or amino acids can help someone who is addicted to sweet foods or high-carbohydrate foods so they can avoid diabetes.
Another benefit of Glycine is that it can help the process of building muscle, although it is similar to the benefits of other amino acids, but Glycine can help stimulate Creatine production in the body so that it can maximize muscle growth safely and healthily. Even though the body can produce glycine, if you want to meet your daily needs, you can take glycine supplements, which are widely available on the market. But keep in mind that utilizing supplements is only as a support, the main source that must be met is still from whole foods that have minimal processing.
For someone on a low-carb diet, it will be so helpful if the body consumes enough protein. While on a diet, blood sugar in the body decreases so that it requires glycogen production so as not to lack blood sugar, this can be assisted by amino acids such as glycine to support glycogen production so that blood sugar remains balanced. The point is to fulfill adequate and balanced nutrition is the key to a healthy body, try to fulfill your intake of macronutrients like Protein, Fat, and Carbohydrates. We can use the TDEE Calculator (Search it in your browser) from there we will know how many calories are needed to maintain weight, cutting, or bulking.
Please remember that all the discussion that I wrote is for informational purposes only, there is no invitation to do something that could endanger health.
Thank you for your feedback. I'm glad you found the blog post on Glycine and its benefits to be a good reminder. I agree with you that obtaining nutrients through food is generally more compatible with the body compared to relying solely on supplements. Whole foods provide a range of essential nutrients and offer better overall nutrition.
Yes sure, I also happy that you've read my post. Thanks for coming
