BCAA (Brainched-chain Amino Acid) - Is it important to consume?

I am embarking on a sports journey to improve my physical shape and maintain my physical and mental health so that I can be fitter in carrying out my activities and keep away from all diseases. Better to prevent than cure, right?

One of the things that will support the progress of our sports is to keep nutrition fulfilled, and adequate rest also plays an important role, not just exercising and sweating. In this post, I will discuss information about one of the supplements that are suitable for meeting protein needs, especially essential protein, known as BCAA (Brainched-chain Amino Acid).

Before I discuss more about BCAAs, I've already discussed the essential amino acids, which contain information about the types of essential amino acids, their benefits, and side effects, which I have explained in the posts below:

About BCAA

BCAA (Brainched-chain Amino Acid) is a type of supplement that contains essential amino acids like leucine, isoleucine, valine, and several other amino acid contents such as glutamine. This supplement is commonly used by sports enthusiasts like lifting weights, body recomposition, and other physical sports because it can help increase muscle growth by stimulating protein synthesis in the body.

The essential amino acids contained in BCAAs can help reduce muscle soreness after exercise, called DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) is usually felt 12 hours after exercising, this BCAA supplement can accelerate and reduce the perceived DOMS, which allows a person to increase the intensity of their exercise be maximized.

In my opinion, this BCAA is very beneficial for supporting sports progress, this supplement can also help us meet our needs for essential amino acids just by consuming this supplement. The essential amino acids contained in food are relatively small in each type, with the presence of BCAAs can make it easier for us to meet our intake of essential amino acids without the need to eat large portions of eggs or meat.

Supplements like BCAAs are a companion to the primary food used to supplement daily nutrition when we are lacking in nutrients, try to get the source from whole foods first, so if you find it hard to fulfill them that is where the use of supplements is recommended as a complement, not as the primary source of nutrition.

Even though I said earlier that BCAAs are important to meet your intake of essential amino acids, it should also be remembered that the best sources of nutrition are those that come from natural foods with minimal processing and no excess chemical content.

Keep in mind, that apart from the intake of amino acids, we also need other nutrients like fat and carbohydrates so that the body's condition remains normal and all nutrients are met as needed and not excessive. Consuming BCAAs in excess can trigger side effects that are harmful to health, if in doubt when using BCAAs, it is better to ask a doctor or nutritionist to avoid negative effects.

This post is for informational purposes only, there is no recommendation to use a particular substance.
