Friday of New Fungi Collection - Rainforest (UTP Botanical Garden)

Today is again mushroom Friday, so I bring some specimens observed in the Botanical Garden of Pereira, city of Colombia and the most curious of all is that the guide in charge mentioned that in the construction of species of this garden mushrooms were not in those plans, but nature took care of it. Over time different species of mushrooms began to appear and it is said that some were brought by migratory birds, changes in the winds that brought spores, others perhaps in the shoes of botanists who came from visiting other forests, and there are more theories.
The truth is that as I have always mentioned fungi are the most predominant species, where there is life there are fungi, saprophytes and parasites, but in this case we saw more saprophytic species that feed on decaying or dead plant matter.

This first specimen is commonly called here "mycena laenia", we only saw a group of specimens at the edge of the trail but I imagine that there will be many more nearby, because let's remember that its reproduction is by spores.

Second specimen shelf fungus, according to our guide had some photos of the specimens found here, and the name of this variety of fungus is Ganoderma applanatum which has medicinal uses, antibiotics more than anything else.

And finally it could be the case of Lentinus swartzii or Lentinus crinitus, it is very difficult to find a similarity with the naked eye and taxonomy is necessary to find the correct specimen. Our guide was informed about the basic mushrooms but the more difficult ones he didn't know how to differentiate them, so I had to do some research.

And a plus is the ear fungus, as it is commonly known, but I didn't have a photo similar to the specimen either.
