It would be good if they could decentralise with a DAO like structure, allowing anonymous users of their products ti take part in governance. This would require another layer to minimise effect of one person having many accounts. #thematrix8solution could help solve that i think

The first thing I would like to see is decentralized infrastructure. That will help to create a more antifragile system that is more resistant to tyrannical forces. Nobody has been able to fully shut down Torrents. Imagine all the services like storage, messaging, VPN etc. were decentralized and contributors could get paid and even make a profit for their help maintaining the network.

Are you somehow familiar with Session: https://ecency.com/hive-120019/@vimukthi/do-you-use-or-at-least-know-about-session-its-better-than-signal It is not a replacement to Matrix Protocol. Session is all about being the most private way to communicate. As per my understanding, it is better than Element in privacy (but not features).

Yeah for sure they need to have decentralised infrastructure AND decentalised community governance.

i've more or less given up on Session now they are moving to an Ethereum based token and diluting OXEN holders. They are betraying the community!

i think SimpleX is the top choice of privacy messengers now.

I do not like what they did switching to ERC-20. The bright side is that the technology itself is already quite amazing and Oxen Foundation may get better investment helping to develop better privacy tools. Even imperfect solutions that move people was from Big Tech and surveillance is good.

I looked into SimpleX and it sure did impress me. AGPL license and Haskell being the most used language according to GitHub page is a sight I did not expect when I went researching. Thank you for the recommendation. The problem is getting people into using SimpleX. The only app I have had easy time onboarding is Telegram and it doesn't even offer good privacy.

Well, Telegram does have the Secret message function which i use occasionally if i'm talking sensitive stuff & other person not ready to install a more private app yet. Anyway, we can just do our best & keep encouraging others to move to better solutions.

This has been my approach for some time.
