Earning 182.5% APR* in Praetoria's Trading Hub

After a very lengthy wait, we have at our hands what was promised as a Land 1.6 and I have tried out the features and made some simple calculations. Bear in mind that the current focus of @splinterlands is on "New Player Experience" that has been teased several times during Town Hall events. There is no major expansion in the development team and there is very little reason to believe that we will get to experience Land 2.0 within 2024.

I don't mind the wait as long as we can get closer to being the most used DAPP in the world. We are facing serious competition even within the small niche of blockchain gaming. Despite being a small niche at the moment, gaming + microblogging are what I consider to be the best gateways to cryptosphere.

DeFi As Gameplay

Gamification at this point is an established industry that is heavily used in many industries including education. Boot.dev and Duolingo are good examples for programming languages and regular languages respectively. @splinterlands is doing something similar for DeFi leading to players being equipped with many transferable skills.

Regions Create Arbitrage Opportunities

The 150 Regions Praetoria is divided into is another piece of the education puzzle. Each Region acts independently at many things. This trait will magnify with the launch of Land 2.0 features. Through engaging with the game, players can come to analyze the differences in these Region and use them to their advantage.

In order to get the best out of the game, players will have to install Keychain and engage in HIVE DeFi. Some of them will eventually embrace LeoDEX and its cross blockchain trading that allow to skip wrapped assets.

Adding Unused Grain Into Liquidity Pools

At the moment I have many Plots that are not producing any Resources due to my inability to gather enough DEC for the task. Some of my Plots have not even been cleared yet (I have 58). I do have some cryptocurrency liquid; but I want to have some diversification. DEC is a soft pegged stablecoin. I want to keep as much wealth as I can outside of fiat and fiat pegged cryptocurrency for the coming months. We are yet to see the biggest gains of this market cycle.

At the end of adding liquidity, I had contributed to 0.01% of the total Pool. This was a day ago. I was a little late to adding liquidity. The small size of the pool could be a result of most users having to spend their Grain to accumulate more SPS + Research. We have to wait a long time to do anything with Research. I don't like to wait till the last moment to do everything I prefer to minimize the amount of management I have to do on a regular basis.

What Can You Earn?

10% is the fee (comparable to games more than DEXs) and half of it is burned. In other words, 5% of trading volume is fees. I have not looked enough to if the Region you provide liquidity in has any difference. It is likely the case. If it was not the case I doubt Trade Hub would have taken this long to be developed. Those who remove liquidity within 30 days have to pay a 10% withdrawal fee that gets into the pockets of the other LPs who do not remove their liquidity.

There is No Statistics Page

This is a problem a third party such as @peakmonsters can fix. If there is any other tool that provide statistics on Trade Hub, please let me know. Since there is some volatility in earnings, I won't try to be precise with calculations.

As evident here, the daily trading volume is approximately 10% of the total liquidity available. 5% of the trading volume goes is paid as fees to the LPs, meaning there is a 0.5% daily return. This number is subject to fluctuations based on many factors. That does not mean we cannot have an APR attached to the Grain:DEC pair.

182.5% APR in @splinterlands

This is one of the highest returns that is available for a safe pair of assets to invest in. Grain has real and active utility and DEC is essentially a stablecoin. Grain price seems to be somewhat stabilized for now. The best part is that Grain can remain decoupled from BTC. What matters to Grain is happening within @splinterlands. The player activity could be affected by $BTC price and the overall cryptosphere. Therefore total independence should be at lest a few years away. At the very lest, we have a path we can carve forward.

Happy Gaming! Happy Investing!
