An Arduous Journey Through Genesis League Goals Gameplay

avatar

I have invested my time, energy and $55 into Genesis League Sports platform. I have 29,393.648 GLX staked and that is from Airdrop for @splinterlands investors + staking Rewards. I have only spent money on buying 11 Booster Packs during Presale over an year ago. I am happy with the current state of Card prices; but not with the state of GLX prices.

What I am happy to see is a working product after all this waiting. It is a relief to see all that parts come together just in time for the new bull market where it is easier to onboard new players and grow the project. I have a great deal of faith in the team that contributed to building the #1 DAPP in cryptosphere by DAU rankings.

Gameplay is Now Live!

I did not get to spend time on Genesis League Goals because I was already focused on Praetoria. It is only yesterday I started to seriously dig into trying out the highly anticipated game.

Roaster Points Got in The Way

I did not have any idea about the roster points system. I had already written about Genesis League Goals when I created 2 teams with the Cards I gained from the Booster Packs. I tried using the other team. Nothing changed.

Gameplay Stats for Teams

Goals is a far more involved game for basic gameplay. It is a good change from @splinterlands. Diversity among the types of gameplay offered is good for the entire ecosystem. Having more permanent teams to play with is a great alternative to those who want something different from @splinterlands.

Practice Match Gave A Taste of Gameplay

The taste itself was not very good. I read the Whitepaper when it first released over an year ago. I did not know enough about the gameplay. I did not see anything about Roster Points when I read those documents and the articles published on @gls.goals

The biggest problems was not figuring out how the gameplay work. The game is utterly unoptimized! Using an old laptop should be partially at fault. The lag made the gameplay experience very jarring and very soon I found myself at Halftime where I can make switch players around. I know very little about any sport. Keep that in mind as you read my articles. I am not playing Genesis League Goals due to a love of sports. My love is towards blockchain gaming and NFTs. My love is towards good projects built on decentralized distributed ledgers such as HIVE.

I managed to fail the practice Match. The starting experience was far more jarring that what I experienced with @splinterlands launch. I was with the game since the beginning and it was fairly easy to pickup the game and get start winning. It was even easy to find the necessary information such as the details on Abilities.

All the important information must be available on the website. Players should not have to learn that @gls.goals has articles published and read through them to find necessary information.

Roster Points = Total Stats of Your Players

After asking for help on Threads, @brando28 gave me the explanation. It was a pleasure to exchange knowledge and thoughts about the game. I managed to create a team before the reply came through trial and error. All it required was a small edit to the Team.

Editing Reserves did not do anything in my short trial. Changing one of the Subs got me the result I wanted. After that all that was left was gameplay against other players.

The problems was that there are almost no players around when I am trying to play a Match. Another problem is that there are too many black screen situations on top of the lagging. I will not be able to play Genesis League Goals competitively under such conditions. @splinterlands play near flawlessly on the same Brave Browser under the same settings.

Invennium is a Game Changer for HIVE

Popular blockchains have infrastructure built for DAPP developers to come an build their projects easily. This is one this HIVE is severely lacking. Developers have to go beyond coming up with a great game or other DAPP idea + Tokenomcis. They are forced to learn about the inner workings of HIVE and built tools necessary to use utilize HIVE for their DAPPs. Invennium aims to fix this problems.

There are many improvements to be made to Genesis League Goals to make it playable and enjoyable for me. Using WebAssembly could be a good idea to try out. Once the optimizations have been made, we should find ways to pass on that knowledge + tools to other projects on HIVE.

Decentralization of HIVE's Success is Crucial for Antifragility

Different players have different tastes in games. I prefer the style of gameplay and the fantasy setting with beautifully written lore of @splinterlands while other may prefer to play an FPS game (that is yet to succeed on HIVE). The community (Layer 0) is already hear with Keychain ready. What we need is developers that can attract new users with fresh DAPP ideas. That task can be made easier by projects such as Invennium.

I think we have to use DHF to fund development of tools as much as we can and make the lives of developers as easy as possible. Ethereum is not the #1 because they have the best technology. Ethereum has the highest number of developers building on top of it. Even many of the competitors of Ethereum use EVM. HIVE needs to onboard as many developers as possible in 2024. There is no need to directly pay them $HBD. DHF can bring down their expenses by providing them with the necessary infrastructure to build at ease.

I agree my friend that Hive gaming is a great sector to invest in. I struggled with Splinterlands though, and have yet to try gls. Maybe I'll stick to the investment side.

So far I have some packs lying on my goals account and some staked GLX there but I couldn't master the energy to really get involved with the game. It's nice to follow you on your steps, maybe it will get me motivated enough to get started :-)

I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project which will be highlighted in the next post! Comment Footer.jpg Please consider voting for our Liotes HIVE Witness. Thank you!
