Meta Chief compares Quest 3 to Apple Vision Pro | Mixed reality headsets

It is really interesting to see that when a new technology emerges, companies begin to compete with each other to see who launches the best product. We have already seen this happen with various models of generative artificial intelligence and wondering what the next addition will be that stands out from the others.

This time we will not talk about AI, but it is related to a new technology that has been predicted on several occasions, either in movies or series, and it involves virtual reality glasses.

We have all marveled at the moment with the new mixed reality glasses from Apple Vision Pro. Although I wouldn't use them myself, I admit it is a revolutionary technology that could impact the way humanity develops their life in an increasingly technological environment, but at the same time, as a criticism, isolates people from being social.

The issue is when you stop using them in your home, precisely in your room, and start using them in daily life where you necessarily have to interact with people who may or may not share your ideals, thoughts, feelings, but they are there, and little by little we are pushing them aside.

I have seen a large number of videos of people using this device, perhaps due to the hype of the moment, and I have come to the conclusion that on one hand, it brings a significant and perhaps necessary advancement to take the next step in the technological era we face, but on the other hand, we are tending to immerse ourselves in a much more virtual world that implies distancing ourselves from reality.

This is much more noticeable when we look around and see people holding a mobile phone without paying much attention to what is happening around them. It becomes much worse when the scenario is, for example, a dinner for two people who have stopped interacting with each other to concentrate on using the technology that entertains them.

Mark Zuckerberg, who is the head of Meta, has started making comparisons between Apple Vision Pro, making it clear why his Meta Quest 3 is superior in several aspects, although he has acknowledged that his competition has good features to consider.

One of the things that stands out the most is the high price, as Apple's glasses cost $3,500, while Mark's brand is seven times less expensive according to his words. Another feature he highlighted in his new device is that they are much more comfortable and lightweight, something very important in my opinion as I have seen that the competition's glasses cause a great deal of redness in the face due to their weight and the pressure exerted. Zuckerberg mentions that socializing and going out with friends is a great experience with these glasses.

If we focus on technical data, his device has a much wider field of vision and a brighter screen that displays sharper images when using them. Although he later acknowledged that Vision Pro has a higher screen resolution and exceptional eye tracking.

As expected, both lenses will have their pros and cons, and this is due to the price at which they need to adjust after the expense of their manufacturing. It may catch my attention that when qualifying the good features of their device, they mention them as fundamental while minimizing those they recognize from the competition. Although clearly, this could only be part of my perception and my idea might be wrong.

The truth is that for the audience who is expecting news about these lenses and to find more use cases and interaction, it can be a good opportunity to see that prestigious companies are competing with each other to offer a product that truly makes a difference.
