Possibly Samsung is one of the biggest exponents in the technological area. If we mention the fact that the latest releases have had a great impact, I believe we are witnessing a technology that is evolving more and more.

Galaxy Unpacked 2024 is an opportune event to present the latest devices in the Galaxy range. And something that generates a lot of interest are the updates to Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip 6, which on this particular occasion focus on betting on AI. In fact, we can mention that there is an international legislation that requires in-depth discussions about these future technologies.

Foldable devices were once a major flaw. Just remembering the problems and breakages caused by their screens with just a few folding frictions, made one think it wasn't a good idea. However, nowadays this technology has advanced significantly and is an option to consider.

At this event, these two phones, which we had mentioned before, have been presented. Both devices are much thinner and lighter than previous models, but it's worth mentioning that the Z Flip 6 emphasizes improving the aspect ratio of its front screen to a tight 22:9 ratio.

Speaking of their prices, there is a $100 increase compared to previous models, with the Galazy Z Fold priced at $1,900, while the Z Flip 6 at $1,100.

Considering that artificial intelligence is covering all possible aspects in all kinds of areas, there is no doubt that AI would eventually enter mobile devices in a native way. Samsung Galaxy AI represents a leap in what we can achieve, maximizing our productivity to a new level. So much so that in the press release announcing new devices, there were 25 mentions of AI.

Technologically speaking, these two devices implement the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, a chip that was used in the Galaxy S24. And beyond the efficiency of these chips, I also imagine that power will be needed to cover the functions of the AI-based system. In this case, the good thing we can ensure is that the partnership between Samsung and Google has been a beneficial boost for this development.

One of the functions that had the most impact was "Circle to Search." A technology developed by Google and subsequently implemented in the S24. It is expected that upcoming models built under Galaxy AI will inherit these functions. What I find important is the cooperation between these two companies, which commonly unite to boost themselves against the competition, and yes, we are talking about Apple here.

The Android system seems ideal for developing all kinds of technologies, in addition to the possibility that another company could participate in that development. Unlike Apple's iOS systems, which are closed systems.

Something that we have possibly all noticed as Android mobile users is that they are trying to make Gemini the primary choice over Google Assistant. This is not a feature exclusive to Galaxy AI, but it is something that would need to be examined in more detail. However, many users still prefer the assistant because it has much more useful functions than Gemini's screen overlay, and if we opt for the latter, we will lose many features that were previously implemented; at least for now, until generative AI finishes developing including the fundamental characteristics of the traditional personal assistant.

What we can ensure is that as technologies of the future, artificial intelligence will be a protagonist, and we are indeed seeing it. Samsung will strongly bet on Galaxy AI as well as its collaboration with Gemini; a LLM chosen over the rest of candidates, while Apple is resorting to partnering with OpenAI.
