Would you buy a Quest 3 for €549.99 ($499)? Where are the Triple A VR Games?
Was sagt ihr dazu? Steuern)?

Would you buy a Quest 3 for €549.99 ($499) or upgrade from the Quest 2?
Yesterday, Meta unveiled the new Quest 3, AI chat products, and smart sunglasses that can record videos.
Since there have been numerous leaks about the Quest 3 before that, there wasn't that much new to learn.
The optical part of the Quest 3 without Facial Interface is 40% slimmer than the Quest 2, which is cool, also the resolution has improved, however, the Quest 3 with 515g even weighs a bit more than the Quest 2 (503g), which some VR enthusiasts feared in advance.
The price is also no longer as cheap as it was when the Quest 2 was launched (€349).
The base model with 128gb RAM now costs €549.99 in the EU, with the Elite Strap it then comes to €700, which is already hefty.
However, the price is roughly comparable to a good smartphone, and for the price of the Apple Vision Pro, you can buy several Quest 3s maxed out with accessories.
Since the Quest 3 is still quite heavy, I am not sure if I will upgrade to the Quest 3, and the development of VR experiences is rather stagnant.
The games, with very few exceptions (on PCVR), do not come close to triple A games and are graphically more comparable to mobile games.
The new Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 will not change that, since the performance of a high-performance gaming PC is simply missing. Nevertheless, the performance of the new chip is remarkable for a standalone device.
What do you guys think? Would you buy a Quest 3 for €549? Why is the price in the EU again more expensive than in the US (incl. taxes)?

I have reduced my addiction to mobile games so although I don't have experience with it, it's good to see your thoughts on it.

I'd rather buy a vr ready gaming pc
Mir wäre das zu teuer.

i would love to try it but no i wont buy it. as you said the development of VR is stagnant.
Nice
im not a fan of VR. im more on PC or laptaps. :)
In Europe the price tends to be higher than in America. It would be interesting to know what the price is in Asia, Australia or Africa. I think it will be lower in Australia. Generally, the freer the market, the lower the price.
I think you should evaluate the price and usefulness.
It may be that there are other, more affordable options that give you more utility.

Well, I would not say that I can never buy it but I only cannot buy it with the last money I have on me. I would not do such to myself
No, and not just because of the price. I still don't think they are good enough.
I would not buy the Quest 3. It doesn't seem worth it and I don't think VR games are there yet.
Well the problem is that you have to pay the price of an extra high end phone for playing game that are similar level. Also that device is not as useful as a phone so it feels difficult to justify.
I am not a fan of vr though. How I wish I can be
The improvement in thinness and resolution is positive, but it's crucial to question if it justifies the higher price. Additionally, the quality and availability of virtual reality games are fundamental, and currently, they do not match up to triple-A games. Therefore, I would explore other purchasing options
