How to fix Smooth Scrolling Bug in Brave Browser (Work-Around)
Habe seit einiger Zeit einen seltsamen Bug im Brave Browser (Windows 11).
Wenn ich eine Zeit lang mit der Tastatur oder Maus scrolle, funktioniert das Hinunterscrollen nicht mehr richtig. Besonders, wenn man vorher in die Page hineinzoomt.
Dann scrollt die Seite entweder von alleine langsam nach unten, oder das Hinunterscrollen funktioniert nur noch in ganz kleinen Schritten.
Der Bug tritt auch ohne Plugins im Private-Fenster auf, aber wenn man Smooth Scrolling deaktiviert, scheint der Bug nicht aufzutreten. Das teste ich gerade.
Schon im Dezember 2022 hat jemand den Bug gemeldet, wurde aber leider nicht weiter verfolgt, sondern wieder automatisch geschlossen :/
Überlege schon den Browser zu wechseln. In Edge tritt der Bug nicht auf.
Was sagt ihr dazu? Hattet ihr so einen ähnlichen Bug auch schon?

Work-around: Deactivate Smooth Scrolling in Brave Browser
(1) Navigate to brave://flags in the address bar
(2) Search for the "Smooth Scrolling" option
(3) Disable "Smooth Scrolling"
(4) Restart the browser

I have had a strange bug in the Brave Browser (Windows 11) for some time.
If I scroll with the keyboard or mouse for a while, scrolling down no longer works properly. Especially if I zoom into the page beforehand.
Then the page either scrolls down slowly by itself, or the scrolling down only works in very small steps.
The bug also occurs without plugins in a private window, but if you deactivate Smooth Scrolling, the bug doesn't seem to occur. I'm testing that right now.
Already in December 2022 someone reported the bug, but unfortunately it was not followed up, but closed again automatically :/
I'm already thinking about switching browsers. The bug does not appear in Edge.
What do you think? Have you had a similar bug?

im also using brave browser but i havent encountered this problem.
I use the Brave browser for both PC and mobile and I have not had any problems with its operation

Könnte auch an der Leertaste liegen, einfach die Leertaste mehrmals drücken, dann sollte das auf und upscrollen aufhören. Sollte es weiterhin Probleme geben, liegts an brave selbst....

I use brave for mobile, it has its problems
But at least it blocks YouTube ads for me.

Vielleicht Absicht eines "Rebells" innerhalb der Firma. Das "smooth scrolling" wurde ja erfunden, um die Leute möglichst lange auf einer Seite zu halten. Denn wenn man bewusst einen Klick machen müsste, um sich neue Ergebnisse anzeigen zu lassen, würde man das irgendwann nicht mehr tun. Das smooth scrolling ist somit einer der Psychotricks, um unsere Zeit zu stehlen.

I haven't had that happen on Brave and have Windows 11 as well. That's odd that they didn't fix a bug that was reported.
Keine Probleme mit Brave auf Linux. Gibt's einen besonderen Grund weshalb du Edge als zweite Wahl bevorzugst? Vor dem Hintergrund, dass es noch "stabilere und bewährtere" Browser wie z.B. Firefox gibt.
hab früher für Edge (IE) entwickelt, deswegen, hab aber auch noch Opera und Tor. Firefox stört mich, dass sie so krypto-feindlich sind, aber Tor ist auch FF basiert. Brave Browser funktioniert aber wieder, wenn man Smooth Scrolling deaktiviert.
OK, verstehe. Tor ist natürlich ne ganz andere Hausnummer. Ich finde LibreWolf recht fancy.
Ich habe mich vor längerer Zeit schon von Brave getrennt, nachdem ich im Browser auf einmal keine Streams mehr schauen konnte. Weiß bis heute nicht was das war.

Das Problem hatte ich auch schon im Brave, dürfte anscheinend an irgendeiner DRM-Komponente liegen:

Dieser Bug ist mir noch nicht aufgefallen. Brave is sowieso nicht mehr was es mal war. Hab aber noch keine Alternative gefunden und 😅 dazu kommt dass man so ein Gewohnheitstier ist 😅
I have never gotten that issue with brave and it's too bad that they never fixed the issue. Maybe they can't replicate it on their end?
Linux user here, but some versions of Brave are less stable than others. It happened a few times that I had to roll back and skip a version to avoid some graphical problems.
If you are thinking about Edge, I would rather suggest using Chromium (and not Chrome) as it is the open source base layer used for Chrome, Brave, and Edge to keep to the big names.
I tried Brave a while ago, and it failed to block ads on the most sites I use. Now, I use Edge with an open-source ad blocker extension.
