Toyota FT-Se. The futuristic classic.
In October, 2023, Toyota unveiled a prototype of a sports electric coupe, the FT-Se (Future Toyota Sports electric) without saying much about it. Yesterday on the Toyota website there was a bit more information and, above all, more photos but still nothing is known about the technical data of the car's drive.
But the more we know about it, the more interesting this concept vehicle becomes. Its creation is supervised by Akio Toyoda himself, who has already stepped down from the chair of the company's president, but has been personally involved in this project. The main idea of the project is to preserve as much driving pleasure as possible known from the existing sports coupes with combustion engines. In this "virtualization" of classic coupes, they went so far that the FT-Se was equipped with... manual "gearbox" and "clutch".
In reality, these will only be controllers designed to give you the feeling of driving a sports car with a classic engine. The vehicle is to provide physical and acoustic sensations known from the "classics".
The car's ultra-low silhouette will be achieved thanks to new batteries with increased energy density, making them flatter and lighter.
The company is also trying to increase the owner's "emotional bond" with the vehicle through emotional design and driving experience. And all this with close to zero carbon emissions. Who knows, maybe it's an idea to save at least some of the beauty of classic cars without compromising the environment.
