POOR ELECTRICITY SUPPLY IN MY AREA.
In this week prompt we are asked to write about Electricity supply is our areas , and I find this very interesting because electricity in my area is unpredictable and funny , in most cases you end up asking yourself questions like;
Did something damage at Nepa office?
Is NEPA on another strike?
Lastly, is this a punishment or maintainance?
In my area, there's always a suspension of light periodically, there was a time they took light for 2years, and that was because the boys in the community, almost took the life of a Nepa official, they removed the lather he was using to disconnect light and left him hanging on the pool, police officers were able to intercede and we got punished for two years , due to a crime that some street boys committed.
Recently, they didn't bring light for about 2weeks, we haven't had light in my location for two weeks, nobody had an update, we kept hearing different rumors, at some point I gave up and was really pained due to the price of fuel, I wasn't happy with the situation.
Few days ago, I was asleep, since we haven't seen light for a long time, we all gave up and even forgot to switch the connection from generator to Nepa.
It was the melodious sound from my PPM and the loud shout from children, UP NEPA, that made me realized that there was light.
I started dancing like a child, because I really needed light.
I would always recommend prepaid metre in my area, because, the bills they bring monthly is outrageous and they don't count days that light wasn't supplied.
I use prepaid metre and it's very economical, but those in my area who pay Nepa bill monthly keep complaining of the bills and how outrageous the amount given to them looks , I wish the government does something to minimize the cost of Nepa bill.
Personally, I have observed that Nepa bring light at odd hours here, they don't supply electricity when you really want to use it or at the time you want to watch your favorite show.
It has been like that over the years, but as humans we keep adapting.
Light here hasn't been steady, if the light is being rationed I don't know and I haven't heard any rumor as regard that so far.
The transformer in my area have never been stolen, a part haven't been stolen from our transformer either and that's because of the security in the street, the street is well secured and protected against thieves.
Only the elites enjoy electricity in Nigeria, it really heartbreaking that a country that supplies light to neighboring countries, can't give their citizens the privilege of enjoying the least 12hours light.
And what makes it really painful, is that after the poor supply of light, Nepa bill awaits you at the end of the month .
In my area we get to see light less than 12hours daily and that's really poor, I hope and pray the government comes to our rescue.

So prepaid is a better option, but how it works?
Omo I just remember the time boys beat up nepa officials and they decided to halt distributing power to my area for weeks. Next thing this boys did was attack their main office Continously until they gave him. Things have changed though but those were times I won't forget because of the drama
Nice read mate
I don't know why this guys love violence, there's really no need for all these acts, it's really unnecessary to me .

Thank you.
Be happy you have less than 12hours daily, ours is not even certain except elections are around the corner.
We don't have light but we pay bills at the end of the month🤔
Really, I'm just realizing the this guys are political about light.
It's usually painful to pay bills, when you aren't enjoying the light, that's why I highly recommend Pre-paid .
Prepaid meters for peace of mind from NEPA
Those boys in your street needs to be sanctioned oo....why did they do such a thing ? The nepa man would have died if not for police intervention. But then two punishment of no light was terrible
Well, prepared is always better in this country with nepa wahala
Most indigenes here in Port Harcourt, feel very entitled rough, the man was just doing his job.
Prepaid is the best.

Your gist clear wella my dear cos I fit relate....light wahala for Naija dey pain, but we still dey shine.
The elites keep enjoying electricity without considering the lower class. Imagine the aso rock enjoys uninterrupted power supply of solar while some of us are wallowing in deep darkness here. Kai God must help my country
