MY CHILDHOOD DREAM; THE UNFORSEEN DIVERSION.

(Edited)

Good childhood dreams, One of the fun of being a child is that you feel you can be anything and attain everything you want.
As children we thought failure was only when you aren't top of the class, not knowing that it's nothing compared to life challenges/failure.
As children we thought education was a burden, not knowing that your school bag was the lightest burden you would ever bear.
Childhood is fun and our experiences as children shaped our lives as adults.

I can remember a particular song I believed in and loved , we sang it in church and this is the lyrics;

If I'm deligent,
Working harder,
Praying always,
I know ,I can be anything I want to be.

I sing this song till date, I have never allowed circumstances surrounding my career , changed the mindset.
I know I chased my childhood dream of being a Barrister with hardwork, deligence, and prayers, but God knows best.

As a child, my parents, teachers and pastors, believed in me and I also believed in myself.
Growing up my mom will always tell me of a prophecy, given to her by her pastor during my dedication, he said I would be a barrister and my dad also had a strong conviction.

From primary to secondary, I would always brag about being a future Barrister, I grew to loved art courses so much and my grades were good, always made good grades in government, literature, english language and Christian Religion Knowledge.
I engaged in debates and was really outspoken.
I was so ambitious and looked forward to study law in the university, until life happened.

Like they say, life is unpredictable, I sat for my first JAMB, my score was good, but never got the admission, I was blamed for putting a federal university, I cried and one year passed.
The second year, I applied in a state university, got a better score, but was given a course that I never dreamt of studying, so the second year passed. Making it two years waiting for admission to study law.
I cried so much this particular year.

It was my third year at home, so I applied in two different universities, this time I had two courses in mind, I had to choose a second option and my second career option was mass communication.

I got admitted to study Mass communication so easy and fast, and that was the beginning of a new career choice.
I had to detour, it was a difficult decision, but my parents and pastors had my back, told me I was still young and could still pursue law after 4years of studying mass communication.

I love mass Communication, I learnt to love my course and it really helped in boosting my confidence. Although I'm not practicing my course actively right now due to some circumstances, but very soon I will start. Covid 19 break and university strike gave me an opportunity to embrace teaching, and that was how I started teaching and enjoying teaching too.

I'm grateful to God I didn't wait longer for law, although I still believe I would study law one day, but I'm calm about it, there's no rush, no pressure.

My dad asked me if I still wanted to further my education some months ago, I said yes and he was about to convince me to study law as a second degree, and I smiled. Told him I would consider it .
If I'm to further my education, I would like to obtain a post graduate degree in education, and dive into teaching fully.

If I can take time back to my childhood, I would have had my own dreams and not embrace a dream because my pastor saw a vision or my dad had a conviction. I believe I would have opened up to many other subjects, skills and paths.
That's in the past, I will just bury it and move on, the future have alot to offer.

Thanks for reading 🥰

Life is really unpredictable,

I love mass Communication, I learnt to love my course and it really helped in boosting my confidence.

where you shy before, you look confident.

We got so many distractions from people we call mentor, we had little opportunitt tomake decision for ourself instead we follow people dreams. Having a second degree aint bad, but You can do PGD and divert your course to master any one related though, but i dont think law accepts that.

You are welcome, do well to always long press on the image you are downloading, and you will see the link to the particular image. There is still a little mistake in your image source as the link does not take you directly to the image used but the site's home interface. I don't if you get me but your source should take you to the image itself and not the site's home. If you don't understand you can reach out on discord and as I don't know how to explain it here again.

The fact that you now understand these truths at the end of your post shows your maturity and understanding to life's principle.

We can be all we want to be but life can also happen. Luckily you didn't sit still waiting for Law to happen.

You can still further and be who you want to be. I wish you success

It's so true, childhood dreams feel so simple and sure until life starts throwing curveballs. I really admire how you stayed strong through all the ups and downs. It's amazing that you didn't just adapt but found joy and purpose in new paths like mass communication and teaching
And the way you reflect on everything, even the "what ifs" is really inspiring. Who knows, maybe law is still in the card someday- but either way you're already doing great things. The future really does have a lot to offer
