MERCY CHINWO, SOCIAL MEDIA IDIØTS & THE BURDEN OF MONETISATION: A CYBER BULLYING SYSTEM.
MERCY CHINWO, SOCIAL MEDIA IDIØTS & THE BURDEN OF MONETISATION: A CYBER BULLYING SYSTEM.
I woke up this morning to some of the most sullied, sordid and mischievous trends on social media
Nigerian celebrity gospel singer, Mercy Nnenda Chinwo, and husband Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, who announced the arrival of their first child in October 2023 had decided to go public with the baby
For all of five months, Chinwo and Blessed, for whatever reasons, had kept their baby's image off the camera
And they, like the rest of us, are entitled to that prerogative
Buh not even keeping his face off the media could keep chatty talks, chin-wags and schmooze at bare
In a YouTube video of Mercy with her baby straddled to her chest posted about a month today, online inlaws, interlopers and kibbitzers had started insinuations to the effect that 'she's hiding her baby's face'
And then today, as if to lay it all bare, Chinwo and hubby shared adoring family photos with the child's face to the world
Hardly had the photos landed on the Internet when commenters right under the post engineered a narrative in #trolls and #memes suggesting the baby looked 'serious' and "uncomely"
Within minutes, Chinwo was trending
Nigerians joke a lot
Buh tagging someone's innocent baby 'u'ly' is a no no
That's insane, disgusting, distasteful, gross, chintzy and uncharitable. To say the least
We were still in rude shock when another Facebook interloper by the name Okoronkwo Ejike, dropped a sickening poop straight out of the blue
In the widely shared post, Ejike aimed a hefty accusation at Mercy Chinwo
"The baby looks exactly like Nathaniel Bassey" the dude set sailing
Nathaniel Bassey is a renowned Nigerian singer, pastor, trumpeter and gospel songwriter with global acclaim
Newborns in their formative years could hold striking features with folks unrelated to their parentage
This is a known fact medically
And had Ejike halted his philippic jeremiad at that point, it would be forgivable
Buh he was not done. No, not yet
The character took hint that Mercy could have possibly been hiding the baby's face bcos of the similarity the baby shares with singer Nathaniel Bassey
He then went on to pontificate that the child belongs to Nathaniel Bassey
He suggested that 'maybe there was a secret away match that occurred that the husband [Blessed] is not aware of, hinting that Mercy might have been unfaithful to her husband
What a bombshell of a twerp
In the now deleted post, Ejike said:
"This is the true face of Mercy Chinwo's child she was hiding after giving birth But the truth is that this little baby looks exactly like Singer Nathaniel Bassey
Nothing anybody wan reason me oh, this child is Nathaniel Bassey's baby, just maybe there was a secret away match that occured otherwise how can we make emperical sense of this"
Ejike has just deactivated his Facebook account and is said to be at large
I have also sighted the insane apology he did before taking down his Facebook account [see comment]
Apologies! My foot
Pastor Blessed and Minister Chinwo are entitled to their large hearted magnanimity to Ejike. Not me
I don't think that sort of altruism is even thotful in this case, at least to send out a few messages
Social media in the hands of Nigerians has ruined many homes, shutdown business, crippled organisations, defamed and battered many-a-reputations beyond any repairs
Why choose to drag a baby who never created himself, and frustrate and embarrass a family this way
If the hunger in Nigeria has shifted some people's brains, they should not come online, itel in hand, to vent their aggro, botherations, vitriol, drought, asperity, mania, dementia, aberration and famine on others
To be on social media in Nigeria is fast turning into an admission into a theatre of all absurdity, a conduit to witness firsthand the human predilection for the foolish, the fallacious and the felonious
People take to live videos just to troll others and build traffic
To even remember that this same guy was the fellow who wrote inanities about Adaora Umeoji, the new CEO of Zenith Bank adds more salt to the injury
This is pure madness and Mercy and Pastor Blessed have to be extremely high-handed in teaching this lunatic a bitter lesson, or two
And this has nothing to do with being a Christian, for if nothing is done now, tomorrow, as this beautiful baby evolves "he may resemble "Tom, Harry or Dickens" and the Internet does not forget
Christianity is not against responsibility
In the wake of these, netizens have suggested families stop bringing their newborns or family to social media
That's instructive for me, and for others, I can't say. Buh, then, if I may ask why exonerate the thief and blame the man whose purse is snatched away in the market place
Facebook has said it will monetise Nigerian content creators by June
As heartwarming as this might appear, the growing toxicity on social media ought to worry us all
In a bid to latch on to anything and build traffic, I've seen a few clout chasers in my friend list join in trolling the Blesseds
I will block all of them
In the meantime , I challenge them to publish their childhood mugshots and then yank off the stinking wigs covering their numbskulls, and wash off the pancakes from their faces - let's see if the horns and branches on their skulls subsist
Dear Chinwo trollers, how far with your scattered noses, remove that foundation let's see if the looks you are rocking now correlate your childhood mien
As we herald this imminent monetisation, let's brace up, for deep fakes, trolls and fake news will grow exponentially, such that they are almost indistinguishable from reality
Clout chasers, also, in their bid to build traffic will settle for anything just to get clicks & views & comments
For the Meta community of Facebook, community standards will have to be strengthened and monetised contents seriously regulated
We will have to care more about truth, about the veracity of information, and about the reliability of news
To Pastor Blessed and Minister Chinwo, a billion congratulations, once again, on this bouncing bunch of joy
Your boy looks super handsome, and healthy; brimming in moxie, in pep, in bravery, in poise, in fiber, in gusto, in brio, in oomph, in dynamism and in vim
Keep shinning beauties 🍒 and let haters and naysayers deal with that
Niw the buge question is how has has social media family members influence action and attitude works in your country. Ia their any same bulance between, the way people use social media to intrude into private life and it's effects in your own country.
Would you look at these deatatives insensitive way of using social media as parts of socialisation.
The way social media is used around the world, more especially in Nigeria and the world's social media citizens intensions, is targeted to bullying, synical, ans so maliciously in intentions to other's private life.
However is every successful entity that most perceived their influence on social media frike, to lead one into that lamplight?
Social media publicity is life on the air, our personal issues, success and life isn't something too ours, but today it has become normal to share even their dirtys publicly.
Because, I think why social media bullying is creasely growing is as a result of people bringing their personal issues and life to the public.
But even at that people could fall in distress, pain and life associated stress an needs advise from people, through the media which I think it isn't wrong.
So another bothering question is, can we say that it is totally wrong for people to share their personal life in issues in the social media?
Is this cyber bullying applicable in your country?
Do this too apply to your religion and political society ? People tend to generate money these day with cyber bullying others integrity, reputation and honesty.
T me I consider this a dubious means of making money. You see even religious leaders, in my country cyber bullying themselves.
In my country about 70% percent of chronicle social media users, has been estimated to be life time enemies, outside the space of social media.
Because most people do not end up letting issues of cyber bullying, of their images side.
Is Cyber bullying a genuine means of making money in your own country?
I feel, if the media users, understand and educate themselve more properly on the essiences of what social media intends could help to solve this issue of cyber bullying in the world.
