Virtual Reality-based Classes in the Metaverse Premiers in Pakistan University

The Information Technology University of Lahore, Pakistan has launched the country’s first metaverse-based classes. The courses to be covered will imitate the traditional classroom experience via virtual reality headsets and motion tracking, according to local news report in Pakistan. The courses are developed in partnership with the University of Denmark.

The new development means that students and teachers could be in any city, country, or any other location but attend classes together in a virtual classroom that is not different from the real-time classroom. They just have to put on a virtual reality headset and will reach the class. The teacher would have access to a projector and board.

In the metaverse classroom, students and teachers can field /answer questions and each participant can feel the body movements of others. According to Ibrahim Ghaznavi, the Head of the Department of Computer Sciences, the initiative, aims at saving energy and improving the academic ability of learners. he maintains that this development would bring Pakistan to the limelight in the global map of Metaverse utilization.

When online classes started after COVID-19, it was necessary to improve the facility because the students did not understand online classes, and the class was not close to reality. As part of the pilot project, the university has signed an agreement with the University of Denmark.
The IT industry is of the opinion that if the legislators make laws for modern technology and use it for the promotion of education, then sooner the world will acknowledge Pakistan's importance in this field. - Source

During the COVID-19 pandemic, ITU had started online courses, but the shift to metaverse technology as virtual reality applications for education have begun to find their footing throughout the globe. ITU students have remarked that the virtual classroom is so close to reality make it easier to understand the syllabus. Indeed, they can understand better what the Metaverse technology looks like.
