Gemini Launches XRP Edition Credit Card in Partnership with Ripple and Mastercard

Gemini, a leading American cryptocurrency exchange, has unveiled a groundbreaking addition to its financial offerings, "the Gemini Credit Card: XRP Edition". Launched in collaboration with Ripple, Mastercard, and WebBank, this limited-edition metal card is designed specifically for the XRP community, offering enthusiasts a seamless way to earn XRP rewards on everyday purchases. The announcement, made on August 25, 2025, marks a significant step in integrating cryptocurrency into mainstream financial transactions, providing a powerful tool for XRP holders to “stack” their assets while spending.

The Gemini Credit Card: XRP Edition is designed to make XRP a practical and accessible currency for daily use. Unlike traditional credit cards that offer points or cashback, this card allows users to earn up to 4% back in XRP instantly with every eligible purchase, eliminating the wait times typically associated with reward programs. The card, issued by WebBank and powered by the Mastercard network, boasts a sleek, limited-edition metal design tailored for the “XRP Army,” as Gemini affectionately refers to its dedicated community.

The card’s rewards structure is structured to maximize value for users. Cardholders earn 4% back on fuel, electric vehicle charging, rideshares, and transit (up to a $300 monthly spending cap, after which the rate drops to 1%), 3% back on dining, 2% back on groceries, and 1% back on all other eligible purchases. Additionally, Gemini has introduced rotating promotions, such as 10% back at select merchants, to further boost rewards. For new applicants approved by June 30, 2025, who spend $3,000 within the first 90 days, a $200 XRP sign-up bonus is available, making the card an attractive option for both crypto enthusiasts and newcomers.

The launch of the XRP Edition card is backed by a significant $75 million investment shared between Gemini and Ripple, signaling a deepening partnership between the two companies. Reports also suggest that Ripple may provide an additional credit line to support Gemini’s financial expansion as the exchange prepares for its anticipated initial public offering (IPO) on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker symbol GEMI. This collaboration underscores Ripple’s long-term mission to transform cryptocurrencies into practical, real-world currencies, with XRP at the forefront. Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple, emphasized the card’s significance in a statement:

“Fifty-five million Americans own crypto, and that number is only increasing as more people look for easier ways to access and use it in their daily lives. With Gemini, we’re making everyday spending a chance to earn and connect with both XRP and RLUSD. It’s a step toward giving people a faster way to move money, and making crypto simple and approachable for everyone.”

The card also supports Ripple’s newly launched stablecoin, Ripple USD (RLUSD), which is now available for spot trading in the U.S. on Gemini’s platform. RLUSD is designed to simplify trading by eliminating extra conversion fees, offering users faster access to both volatile cryptocurrencies, such as XRP, and stable-value assets. This dual functionality enhances the card’s appeal, allowing users to seamlessly integrate crypto into their financial routines.

Gemini, founded in 2014 by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, has built a reputation as one of the most secure and regulated cryptocurrency exchanges in the world. The company holds a Limited Purpose Trust Charter from the New York Department of Financial Services and is subject to stringent capital reserve, cybersecurity, and banking compliance standards. The Gemini Credit Card reflects this security-first approach, with features like Mastercard’s ID Theft Protection and real-time monitoring for unauthorized transactions. The card also omits the card number from its physical design to enhance account security.

The XRP Edition card is available to residents of all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico. However, it is not currently offered outside the U.S. It integrates with digital wallets such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay, and users can access a digital version of the card instantly upon approval. This accessibility, combined with the ability to switch between earning rewards in XRP or over 50 other cryptocurrencies available on Gemini, makes the card highly flexible for users with diverse crypto portfolios.

The XRP Ledger (XRPL), the decentralized blockchain powering XRP, has seen increasing adoption by global institutions, including abrdn, Braza Bank, Vert, Société Générale–Forge, and Guggenheim Treasury Services. Designed for speed and low transaction costs, the XRPL uses a unique Proof-of-Association (PoA) consensus protocol, enabling transactions to settle in 3 to 5 seconds. This efficiency has made XRP a preferred bridge currency for financial institutions, facilitating cross-border transactions, a use case championed by Ripple.

The Gemini Credit Card: XRP Edition capitalizes on this growing utility, allowing users to earn and hold XRP rewards that have shown significant value appreciation. According to Gemini, cardholders who earned and held XRP rewards between October 8, 2021, and July 27, 2024, saw those rewards increase in USD value by 453% by July 27, 2025, though individual results vary based on market performance and holding duration.

Beyond its crypto rewards, the Gemini Credit Card offers benefits through the Mastercard World Elite program, including discounted access to Peacock Premium, Instacart, ResortPass, Lyft, and Booking.com. The card carries no annual fee, no foreign transaction fees, and no fees for receiving crypto rewards, making it a cost-effective option for frequent spenders. Users can also take advantage of Mastercard’s Price Protection and HealthLock services, adding further value to the cardholder experience.
