Moscow Planetarium
Hi!
Do you visit the planetarium often? There was a great planetarium in our city in my childhood. It was visited not only by students from urban schools, but also from rural areas. I've always been very impressed with him.
There was an exposition in front of the entrance to the main hall, where three-dimensional landscapes of some planets were located in niches along the walls behind glass. Of course, it was all a fantasy of the planetarium workers, but it was done very coolly.
And then we would sit in the hall under a huge (as it seemed to us at the time) dome and the lights would turn off.
But times are changing and usually not for the better. There is practically nothing left of this gorgeous planetarium.
Therefore, when we had the opportunity to take our children to a real modern planetarium, we gladly took advantage of this chance.
It was the famous Moscow Planetarium.
In addition to the planetarium itself, there are several fascinating compositions where children can get acquainted with various physical phenomena, not only observe them directly, but also take part in physical experiments.
In one of the halls there is a working copy of an ancient astronomical instrument - the armillary sphere, with which ancient astronomers could determine the coordinates of celestial objects.
Even I was very impressed by Foucault's famous pendulum. Of course, I knew about him and saw him in photographs in textbooks, but I had never seen him in action. Therefore, I was very glad to see how it could be used to prove the movement of our planet.
As a mathematician, I was curious to see such an unusual water model of the proof of the famous Pythagorean theorem. I scrolled this disc several times, watching how the water overflows from the square of the hypotenuse into the squares of the catheters))
And of course, the most beautiful map of the starry sky, glowing against the background of a black wall.
All these objects can cause a memorization effect in children and spark curiosity. Children ask questions. And next to the objects there are planetarium workers who are always ready to give a little advice about what they saw.
It's a wonderful place. You can't tell me everything right away. But I strongly advise you to visit this planetarium!
I love to visit this type of place with my kids
Yes, it's a great place for kids!
