In today's volume of weirdness we have an amazing alien creature travelling through space deep sea thing that will amaze the shit out of you.

Let's start with some really trippy footage first

And now with something more "realistic"

As you have probably guessed, this ribbon like thing is a jelly, a comb jelly to be more exact, commonly known as the Venus girdle. Well, technically comb jellies aren't real jellies but that is a discussion for another time 😂

Scientifically described as Cestum veneris, they can grow to be up to a meter long and occur in oceans all over the world, in midwater and they exhibit the phenomenon of bioluminescence when they are startled.

The species swims using muscular contractions as well as the beating of the comb rows. They feed on small animals like crustaceans.

There's really not much else to say about these creatures, I guess nobody has taken the time to study them well... As always I'll leave some links at the end if you want to do!

So, how about another thing that looks like it came from outer space?

Looks like it's charging its phasers or something 😂

Once again, we have a comb jelly, Lampocteis cruentiventer, which is commonly known as the bloodybelly comb jelly.

These trippy fuckers are found at a depth of 250-1,500 meters deep in the North Pacific Ocean.

As you saw in the video they also have some really cool bioluminescence and it's where their scientific name largely comes from

The generic name was formed from the Ancient Greek lampós ("bright, shining, brilliant") and kteís ("comb"), referring to the iridescence of its "combs"; the specific epithet was formed from the Latin cruentus ("blood-red") and venter ("belly") source

Here's another cool video of them

Despite what the video would have you think, these jellies are actually quite small, ranging usually anywhere from 1.5 to 16 centimeters.

Wikipedia is a great place if you want to learn more about this creature too!

Ok, hope you enjoyed today's dose of weirdness, I'll have more one of these days ^_^

By how deep they are I'm guessing I'll never see one, oh well. Awesome little comb jelly, another thing I didn't know existed!

The way we see technology is advancing so much that we can now swim comfortably in the ocean.
