The Most Populous Country With No Olympic Medals
Everyone today was discussing about what a political correctness shitshow the Olympics opening ceremony was. Well not everyone but a lot of people. Personally I didn't get to watch it other than the occasional quick segment on Twitter so I will abstain from voicing an opinion until I do. But to be fair...What the fuck is this degeneracy? Lol.
Anyways, today I want to talk about yet another interesting yet totally useless bit of trivia related to the Olympics.
Bangladesh is a big country, that is something we all know. With approximately a population of 170 million people. That is a lot of people!
Yet, despite having such a big pool of potential athletes they have never won a single Olympic medal! Not even a bronze one. Making them the biggest country with the poorest Olympic performance. The same is true for the Paralympics. As for the Winter Olympics the country has never participated in any.
Even when it comes to just the number of participants the performance is still remarkably low. For example in the 2024 Olympics the country is participating with just five athletes.
Yeah I know the country is super poor and stuff which probably is the main reason for the poor performance mentioned above. Yet I think it's still fascinating, sort of, that's such a big country fails to achieve better results!
Hopefully one day Bangladesh will see... better days both in the Olympics and in regards to economy and corruption.

I'm sure corruption is the root of it all. You pay your way onto the Olympic team, your don't have to be any good! I hope that's not how it happens but it wouldn't surprise me. It would be nice if they could at least win one medal!

A bit odd that Bangladesh, with so many people, hasn’t won any medals yet. Change is needed. I think they might rise to the occasion one day

STOPI am from Honduras, we also have 0 medals. It isn't corruption it is just that our athletes are not at the level of those of other countries because of funding, I guess it is the same with Bangladesh.

As for Bangladesh… is there cricket at the Olympics? Maybe that would help their cause.

Nah I think it's more "look, they make fun of Christianity". As a non-believer I really don't care, as long as other religions get the same treatment. Or considering they uniting spirit the Olympics are supposed to have .. Why even feature something you know it's gonna divide people?
I calculated that I paid an extra $2500 in various taxes leading up the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. It's a big party for the elites at the expense of us plebs.
