The Poet And The Scientist

There is magic to be found in the garden. I feel it everytime when I step into mine or one that I have helped to create. Its that connection between you and the earth. Growing food connects you more with the seasons, with the cycles. To me it is the most natural thing to do, to grow your own food. To provide nourishment for you and your family. To feed the soil, to nourish it, as it nourishes you. You become a part of that natural cycle. When you put your bare hands in the soil, you can feel that connection, that relationship and it is so empowering.

No matter who you are, no matter what your interests, if you take the time to grow your own food, you step more fully into your role as creator.

You begin to understand things more, being in the garden helps you to slow down and observe. As you step into the natural flow of things. As you begin to understand the importance, of soil health. The very science of it and why it really determines whether or not we will survive. The soil needs to be protected. The plants provide that protection, which in turn benefit the insects and birds. You begin to see the many beneficial relationships that occur in nature and the importance of replicating that in your garden. How everything is connected.

How we are connected. How important it is for us to work together. To create beneficial relationships, that will create a better environment for us all. It's inspiring and that inspiration brings out the poet in me.

Wrap me up in your greenery, let me inhale the sweet scent that you hold.
To start my day with a heavy heart, being in your presence, reminds me to let go.
My bare feet on the soil, my arms raised towards the sun,
I open up all of my senses,
My daily healing has begun.

Slow down,
Drink it all up,
Allow yourself to get drunk,
As you fall upon the earth.

Allow yourself to get drunk! YES! That reminds me of Rumi. There's something so intoxicating about the magic of a garden - loved this lovely poem! Love, @riverflows
